Fined $1,000 for highway feud

<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A DRIVER of a prime mover was fined $1,000 on Tuesday for his part in a road feud two years ago. A district court heard that Kusuma Rasul, 37, was driving his vehicle on the extreme left lane on West Coast Highway on the evening of April 16, 2008. As there were roadworks ahead of him, he tried to filter right and his prime mover brushed a cement mixer, damaging his right wing mirror. Kusuma gave chase and when overtaking the cement mixer, his left wing mirror was lost. After pulling up, the drivers ended up fighting and police were called in by the other driver Yuan Yan Bin. Both men sustained bruises and minor cuts. Asking for leniency for Kusuma, his lawyer Gurdaib Singh told the court that the father of four children, aged six to 15 years, was the sole breadwinner for the family. Kusuma's monthly salary of $1,800 also supported his elderly parents. Yuan was fined $1,000 last November.
