A FORMER civil servant was hauled to court on Friday to face cheating and forgery charges. Chye Siew Kok, 59, a former corporate service officer with the Ministry of Manpower, allegedly cheated a manager of the work pass division by claiming that Xing Hua (Putian) Cuisine was holding a foodshop licence, and induced her to deliver an in-principle approval for an employment pass to one Zeng Ronghe. A day later - on Aug 11, 2006 - he is said to have similarly cheated a senior manager in the division, inducing him to deliver to Xing Hua an in-principle approval for an employment pass to be issued to one Huang Zhifeng. The third charge accuses him of forging a National Environment Agency foodstall licence by putting the word 'Foodshop' in place of 'Foodstall' on the licence to cheat the MOM in July 2006. His $10,000 bail was extended until Nov 6 when the case will be mentioned.
