A dossier on the sexual conquests of a female university student has become an international hit after it spread from her circle of friends to the internet.

Karen Owen described her joke thesis as 'an education beyond the classroom: excelling in the realm of horizontal academics'
The steamy 42-page report on "horizontal academics" details the energetic experiences of Karen Owen and 13 men at Duke, the prestigious college in North Carolina. It has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times and, despite Miss Owen's horror, prompted a leading publishing house to inquire about signing her up as an author.
Part-written in the style of a dissertation, the report's first page states it was "submitted to the Department of Late-Night Entertainment" for a "degree in tempestuous frolicking". It goes into extraordinary detail about Miss Owen's various encounters with the 13 "subjects", who included stars of the university's tennis, lacrosse and baseball teams.
The men, whose bodies are described at length, are each scored out of 10 for their performance, threatening particular embarrassment for Subject Two, who was awarded 1/10. The report logs the dates and locations – including, in one memorable passage, the university library – for each "hookup" Miss Owen, now 22, enjoyed with the men.
Most encounters are notably alcohol-fuelled, with the author stating on one occasion: "An entirely new experience for me: a 100% sober booty call". Ms Owen also describes watching pornography with one partner and reproduces lewd text messages she exchanged with another. Photographs of each conquest – some partially naked – are included with the report, though their faces have been obscured in the version leaked online.
While Miss Owen graduated earlier this year, it is thought that seven of the men are still studying at Duke, many in the same Lacrosse team. The study concludes with a table and graph titled "The Official – – – – List", allowing the reader to compare the scores of each man. "I would like to thank all my subjects, without whose willing participation, co-operation and specimens I would not have been able to complete this project," Miss Owen writes.
Enquiries about Ms Owen from an editor at HarperCollins, an agent at William Morris, and a film producer, have all been published on websites that posted the dossier. It is thought they have been attracted by its numerous humorous passages. "It was on the cab ride back that I discovered he was rude, Canadian, and spoke mostly in French," Miss Owen writes at one point.
"The warning flags were waving furiously, yet, in the interest of my research and out of a perverse curiosity, I decided to continue". Miss Owen has said she never intended for the dossier to go beyond three friends, but that one had admitted to forwarding it to others. "I regret it with all my heart," she said.
"I would never intentionally hurt the people that are mentioned on that." She has since declined to comment. A Duke spokesman said the college was "reaching out to those who've been affected by this incident". "Our foremost concern is to provide for the wellbeing of our students, and to respect their privacy," he said.

In a joke of a senior thesis, the Karen Owen List was born. The name of the thesis, which Karen sent to a few of her friends was, “An education beyond the classroom: excelling in the realm of horizontal academics”.
In it she described all the Duke University athletes that she had slept with in detail. Detail, as in conversations she had with them, length, girth, etc. Obviously, the document infuriated some of the guys. The paper was posted online, and started to spread like wildfire before they took it down.
Karen has since taken down all of her social network profiles, as she is becoming one of the most hated women in America, at least for this week. The thesis was in the form of a power point presentation, listing the athletes, along with descriptions, and a rating from 1 to 10.
It included 13 different Duke University athletes on the tennis, baseball, and lacrosse teams. Karen Owen, stated the following when she heard about the list going viral, “I regret it with all my heart. I would never intentionally hurt the people that are mentioned on that.”
