A body was found inside a burnt out building in Yuen Long following an explosion this morning, in what police said was an arson case.
Police are now treating the case as arson as no natural cause of fire was found at the scene.
Police and firefighters were called to the property at 10.24am by a nearby resident who reported hearing an explosion.
A police spokesman confirmed a body had been found following the fire.
A spokesman for the fire service said firefighters arrived at 10.30am to find the building ablaze and it took 35 minutes to douse the flames.
"When they arrived there was a fire that had engulfed a tin structure and two double-decker vehicles.
They found a charred body," the fire spokesman said. Investigations are ongoing.
Emergency services have not confirmed the victim's age.
