Alleged MFA trespasser charged, remanded for psychiatric assessment

SINGAPORE: The 27-year-old Malaysian woman who was arrested on January 20 at the compound of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFA) has been charged with criminal trespass.
Responding on Wednesday to queries from Channel NewsAsia, police also said the woman is now remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for psychiatric assessment.
Police and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority announced on Tuesday the arrest of the woman. The authorities said the woman has a history of mental illness.
The police had arrested the woman after she allegedly trespassed onto MFA premises.
The woman is also under investigation for evasion of immigration clearance.
The 27-year-old allegedly evaded clearance at Woodlands Checkpoint on January 17.
