I don't understand this kind of posts. Seems like a lot of bullshit to me. In the case of the moron who bought the tires, does he not have a tire pressure gauge? I always keep one in my glove compartment. If the tires don't look right when i pick up the car, i could always check the pressure on the spot with my own gauge and then fuck the mechanic if its so off like he says. And if the car is missing the air filter, u can still drive it. for a long time. Like more then a 1000km. but u will risk screwing up your car.

As for the fucktard that left his car for 5 months at the mechanic shop. If they cannot fix my car in one week, i ask for the car back and try another mechanic.

Its always easy to pass comments especially snide ones. Lets just concede that you know best.

The mechanic was a trusted one and has been for years, the tyres did not seem deflated at the time and it was driven by his wife. One thing to note is that the air pump at a lot of petrol stations are not accurate and needs your own guage to test. The air filter for a diesel car was different but the car already drove with a huge loss of power, when she drove it back, i could tell the car was struggling and asked them to bring it straight back.

The car that was left there was because it was screwed up royally by rats during the year long hiatus that they weren't there, all wiring was essentially gone. When the car was towed there, (yes towed as couldn't start) they dismantled it totally and sent the parts and seats away the very same day. How do you get it back then without them fixing it. You need to tow it and then find all the parts, the person in charge (one Mr Ho) was always never around and refused to answer the call. Plus they could not go back frequently to follow up for the few months during the lock down.

From shared bad experiences with cars when servicing your car, please always check your car tyres, even by your regular mechanic.

They under inflated my brand new tyres that i purchased and claimed the petrol station meter was wrong. Imagine front two tyres are 220 and the back tyres (the ones that got replaced) are 117. Did test twice and tried at the 2nd machine, so how could the meter be wrong. Its disappointing as i have been spending a lot with them the past few years. One time they even forgot to put back my air filter, causing the car to stall midway. Out of goodwill, not mentioning their names here, just confirm the status especially on the tyres, have a 2nd look and check if they look under inflated.

One mechanic even better, took 5 months to fix a car issue, my car got used by them (for testing of course), until the front tyres became bald and even my gps module was removed and taken (it was my own fault as i didn't check 100%). They kept delaying and did not work on the car until i got back. The guy even claimed my battery was dead and needed to be replaced when it was not even a year old (still under warranty). Then try to charge me 6k to fix a ESP/ABS issue.
Please do not use - PROSTAR -Premier Star AutoHub

Yet another one volunteered to scan my other car, mentioned no charges and silently billed and charged me 60 for the scan.
Use with caution, ask prices first - JAZZ TYRE AND SERVICE CENTRE

Always check first before handing over your car keys. Please avoid them at all costs. All cars that were overcharged were all Malaysian cars so this has nothing to do with nationality, just honesty.
i laugh and laugh. tyre can be pump by yourself daily weekly or monthly at petrol station if too low. air filter can be removed and car run for years like mine with no issue. Car left at mechanic shop for 5 months ?? owners should pay storage charge. mechanic shop is for repair not storing your car. If you look like can. dont blame the mechanic for kicking it down the drain.

The mechanic came highly recommended and came from a very trusted source.

Before being forced to go back, the owner did tried to arrange for a tow to go elsewhere and pay the guy for the work that was done thus far but imagine everything torn apart and all parts missing. Boss (Mr Ho) also missing and never return calls. How to tow and take back the parts? This was a rat infestation issue so the whole car was stripped on the very first day without notification to the owner. This is not a play for sympathy and just to inform people that certain businesses have no scruples.

As i understand, the person did not deliver on anything except the car being back on the road, the tyres were overly used (for testing of course) and he tacked on additional costing (for filter) at the last minute and tried to stiff additional by claiming battery needed to be replaced. Even the workshop who recommended them shook their heads. It just turned out that the battery was replaced by the very shop that recommended this Mr Ho.

By your logic, all the people who got stiffed just deserves it. Not all mechanics over there are like that. Even in Singapore, there were bad cases where mechanics did not screw back the transmission oil gear plug properly and the oil drained out. Of course the poor sod did not know until an expensive repair came and he of course had to pay for an expensive repair after that.

no tpms? must be cheapo car. tpms will warn you on the dashboard low pressure on tires. on porsches, each tire’s psi will be displayed when vehicle is moving.

Hey everyone, thanks for sharing your experiences with mechanics in Malaysia. It's always important to do your research and find a trusted mechanic that you can rely on.

I'm actually looking into getting a car shipped to Malaysia and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a reliable auto transport dispatch service in the country. The distance is too long to drive the car myself and I cannot guarantee safety because I don't have a lot of driving experience in the country. Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

good news if it can cut the 3 hours jam at the causeway. The petrol cost for 3 hours running is more than 6 ringgit already. and the fumes and time wasted. So think of the savings....Every one should support this if they promise to employ more msian custom officers who can pass stamping passport speed test

I must say that I am biased when it comes to mechanic, really found a good one in this place, Overseas Tyre, aka yellow signboard Michellin run by (ah ming aka Satu Malaysia ) Update - He is no longer there now, we have Gao Lao over there. Nice and honest chap.

I have went to many before i finally found this gem.

Wanted to share somethings to be very wary of in Malaysia, please avoid the following and feel free to add your bad experiences:

Car

PROSTAR -Premier Star AutoHub
Nusa Sentral

Extremely bad service, dismantles entire car without checking or asking you first. By the time quoting you, the car is already in pieces.
Purposely dragged it to months so that the car sits there as a free promotional piece and tried to overcharge for non-existence parts.

Jazz Tyre and service centre
Nusa Heights area

Will not inform you of hidden charges, please check and ask first. They will charge you 60 MYR or more for connecting an OBD2 sensor and clearing a fault.
Informing you that they fixed the issue already. Of course when issue comes back, they won't do anything.
