Is the secular government interfering with the holy Christian world?

We have difference of opinions and our mentally are completely against the world populous thinking, but to interfere with church activities, has the secular government crossed the boundary and interfere with daily operating activities of the church, which is comprising of cheerful givers to support the church and its activities? Every dollar I drop into the offering bags, it is my hope that the gospel can be spread to many more billions of people.

To put it simply, because the secular government do not understand how the church works, should they start to arrest and persecute the church members like the olden time when Jesus was present as the son of God?

Jesus doesn't really care if the church has 50 millions or 100 millions, but He cares if many more people are being saved from hopelessness and despairs from their terminating life? He gives people hope when there is none. This is how the Gospel should work. How much did the church helped its members who have eternal peace and joy in any circumstances? Can you achieve that with other religions? I don't really care where my money goes to, can I can rely on God to lead those people who are in charged to spend them wisely so that the kingdom of God can be glorified and spread to the entire world.

The Evangelical Christian church should not be classified as a religious or a charitable organization, because it isn't, other than for taxation purposes. Because it has never been either. Just because Christians don't have to the same mentality or share the pursuits of the secular world, it doesn't mean they are crazy too.

Even your father had himself had claimed Goh Keng Swee died peacefully because he had the peace and joy of the Lord in him. Are you going to deny more people from seeking hope and the grace of the Gospel?

City Harvest Church Defense Argues Theology Legitimacy Falls in Trial's Scope

City Harvest Church trial began officially Wednesday with sharp disagreement between the prosecution and the defense on whether theology falls within the parameter of the defined scope of the case.

The prosecution alleges that six CHC leaders have misappropriated more than S$50 million of church funds and have committed criminal breach of trust.

The accused were allegedly engaged in “sham bond investments” in two companies Xtron Productions and PT the First National Glassware (Firna) to further the music career of Kong’s wife Sun Ho, the Channel News Asia reported. This was said to take place between January 2007 and October 2008.

Masiv Chionh, deputy public prosecutor, said, the issue lies with whether the building fund was used in an “authorized” manner or not, according to City News. Whether the accused thought Ho’s music career would further the broader objective of the church is immaterial, he said. And whether Sun’s crossing over into the entertainment circle is “theologically legitimate” is inconsequential.

The defense, on the other hand, disagreed, and sought clarification from the prosecution on whether they equate the Crossover Project with Sun’s music career. The lawyers emphasized that since the case involves a church, theological legitimacy has to be considered.

Senior Counsel N. Sreenivasan told City News two key elements: one is that the prosecution wants to maintain that the used of the building fund for the Crossover Project was unauthorized, but “as my learned friend Edwin Tong said in the open court, the use was not unauthorized. But I won’t comment as it’s an issue before the court.”

The second element is fourfold: “The accused had no wrongful gain; there was no unlawful loss; the Church made good and there has been no dishonesty.”

The six are president of the church’s management board Kong Hee, Vice-President Tan Ye Peng, board member John Lam Leng Hung, the church’s investment manager Chew Eng Han and finance managers Sharon Tan Shao Yuen and Serina Wee Gek Yin.

While the accused have agreed to be jointly tried for all the charges brought against them, the court was filled with around 50 people, who are mostly from City Harvest Church.

Senior District Judge See Kee Oon hears the case. The trial continues on Thursday with a former accountant of the church Ms. Lai Baoting, prosecution’s first witness, giving evidence.

Two days ago, Sun will resume her role as Executive Director of the church after two suspension orders against her were lifted on Monday with immediate effect by the Commissioner of Charities (COC) as there were insufficient evidence that she contributed to mismanagement there.

COC has also extended the deadline for eight City Harvest Church members to submit objections to COC's proposal to remove them from their positions in the church.

They were originally given a one-month deadline, which ends on 13 May, to make representations. As a "goodwill gesture", the COC has given them another two months.

my friend,

i have nothing against god. but i think kong hee and his gang are crooks by siphoning money from followers donated out of good faith. adding on, i think most christians are brainwashed like what you see in the courtroom. they'd spend their time go watch their idol being trial in court. my experience tells me that most christians are hypocrites. yes, i used to go to church until i am being showed the door by a so call pastor, and that time happen to be my lowest point of my life. i am not exaggerating. these mega churches have one factor that is to make the followers feel good during their masses. the way they do it is similar to how MLM recruit their members. :p

christians have this complexity in them 表面心连心,后面动脑筋。 just follow the news, i am sure their true selves going to surface soon. they will point finger at one another soon to save their own arse.

what are you complaining about? if you really want to pray to god, avoid mega churches and join those home groups where they have their own prayer sessions. i think this is more proper and faithful.

X'tian must be checked and put in their 'right places'.

There must be a good reasons why they were crucified in the olden days.

With these zealots running around, it won't be long before cults started to form, as in the case of CHC, where these mumbo jambo can even pressure and interfere with the way a country is governed!
