(Video) 77yo Elderly Man Crashes Perodua Myvi Into Caltex Petrol Station In Ipoh

SOURCE: FACEBOOK
It’s becoming highly concerning how there have been multiple reports of cars crashing into petrol stations, convenience stores and restaurants lately. Last month, a man lost control of his vehicle and accidentally rammed into the glass door of a KFC outlet at a Shell petrol station.

Tragically, another similar incident resulted in the death of an elderly woman in Negeri Sembilan, whose husband refused to leave his seat after witnessing her passing. It’s only the second week of 2024 and unfortunately, there’s already an accident which involved a car crashing into a petrol station (again).

CCTV footage of a Caltex in Canning Garden, Ipoh, Perak has circulated all over social media since yesterday (Tuesday, 9th January). The video showed the staff members working as usual when suddenly, a Perodua Myvi crashed through the glass panel and into the store, colliding with a woman at the counter. As seen in the timestamp, the incident took place at 10:32am on the same day the CCTV footage was released.

Authorities were immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene to investigate the accident. According to MalayMail, the driver was a 77-year-old Swiss national who was in the middle of parking his car at one of the petrol pumps that was located right outside the store. He then suddenly suffered a leg cramp which caused him to lose control of his vehicle and accidentally step on the accelerator.

Luckily, there were no casualties during the incident. The motorcyclist who was near the accelerating car did not sustain any injuries, however, Ipoh District Police Chief ACP Yahaya Hassan told reporters that the woman who was hit during the crash suffered an injury to her right leg. As for the Swiss driver, apart from the leg cramp earlier, there have been no updates on his condition. The case is currently being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
