POLICE are hot on the tracks of loan sharkers. Four suspected loan shark runners, aged between 17 and 24 years old, were arrested in the last two days. Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division nabbed a 17-year-old suspect in Hougang Avenue 8 in an anti-loan sharking operation on Monday. Items related to loan shark activities such as markers, a mobile phone and a box of gloves were seized from the suspect, together with a sling bag containing cans of black paint and markers. Further investigations led to the arrests of two other 19 year-old accomplices, at Tampines Street 91 and Bedok North Street 3. In a separate arrest on Tuesday, officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division responded to a '999' call from a member of the public who had seen a man behaving suspiciously in the neighbourhood. On arrival, they spotted a 24-year-old man who fit the description given by the caller and arrested him. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had helped loan sharks to collect loan repayments and carry out harassments. All four suspects will be charged in court on Wddnesday.
