Decomposed body in flat

THE foul smell started just days before Chistmas but got stronger in the past week, forcing some neighbours on the seventh floor to shut their doors and windows.
One resident found it so unbearable on Sunday evening, she decided to call the police, who later found a badly decomposed body of a woman in a three-room flat in Block 110, Toa Payoh Lorong 1.
The woman, aged 56, was living in the flat with her 62-year-old brother. Neighbours said the two siblings often quarrelled and kept pretty much to themselves, Lianhe Zaobao reported on Monday.
What puzzled the neighbours was that despite the stench in the flat, the brother continued to live as if nothing had happened.
The dead woman occasionally asked neighbours for money or food, said Lianhe Zaobao.
Police are treating the case as death by unnatural cause.
