3 to be charged for entering casino using false identification

By Elizabeth Soh

THREE Singaporeans in two separate cases suspected of entering a casino using false identification are expected to be charged in court tomorrow (4 Aug).

In the first case, brothers aged 27 and 34 were detained by Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) security officers in May after they were caught allegedly using the identity cards of other people.

Investigations by the police revealed that on May 1 this year, the 34-year-old suspect and his wife had purchased and activated entry levies to obtain entry for the 27-year-old.

The 34-year-old suspect then used his wife's identity card without her knowledge to enter the casino, handing his over to his younger brother.

In the second case on May 3, a 24-year-old Singaporean woman who was under an Exclusion Order was arrested after she used another person's work permit to enter RWS.

It was later found that she had allegedly stolen her colleague's work permit to gain entry.

They are expected to be charged in court today (4 aug).

The 34-year-old man will be charged for unlawfully allowing his brother to use his identity card and faces a maximum penalty of $10,000 or a 10 year jail term.

His brother and the 24-year-old woman will be charged with failing to pay the levy and face a maximum fine of $1000.

The female suspect will also be charged for theft and faces additional penalties of up to three years in jail and a fine.
