21-year-old jailed, caned for sexual offences

SINGAPORE: A 21-year-old man has been given a three year and one month jail term and six strokes of the cane for having sex with a minor, outraging the modesty of another minor, and theft.
Dominic Lim Shan Jun got acquainted with a 13-year-old girl on 16 July 2009 through an online game. He was then 17 years old.
Lim invited the minor to his house the next day. Without asking the minor, Lim pushed the girl onto his bed and had sex with her.
Using the same method, Lim got to know a 14-year-old through the same online game on 18 July 2010.
The two met up at his house in Compassvale Road two days later, where Lim pulled the girl into his room and hugged and kissed her.
The girl struggled but Lim refused to give up; he tried to undress the minor and attempted to force her to give him oral sex.
The victim managed to get off Lim's bed after struggling and left his house as quickly as she could.
Apart from the two incidents, Lim was also convicted of stealing an iPad and S$25 from a friend in December 2011 when the friend stayed the night at Lim's house.
Two other charges were also taken into consideration for sentencing purposes.
