TWO Singaporean men have been murdered abroad in separate incidents in the past week, one in south-east Thailand and the other in Batam. The man killed in Thailand, Mr Teo Ah Yua, 65, was found naked in a field near the village of Nong Kam in Chonburi yesterday. Mr Teo, a retiree married to a Thai woman working here, was found with his hands and legs bound by nylon rope. His wife will fly back to Thailand today, even as Thai police mounted a manhunt for his killer. An investigator said: 'We have not found a motive, but we guess he was killed elsewhere before his body was dumped.'
Mr Teo is known to have lived in a village called Sri Racha Land for about 10 years.

Three arrested following death of Singaporean in Sriracha

On Wednesday Morning, the body of a Singaporean was discovered in an area of wasteland located in Sriracha District. Mr. Teo Ah Yau aged 69, whose passport was found close to his body was lying on the ground and his hands and legs were tied together with nylon string and a belt was tied around his neck. There was also evidence of trauma to his face. Forensic evidence was plentiful at the scene of the crime and later on Wednesday Police went to the victim’s house and found that items had been stolen and information from neighbors suggested that three people, 2 men and a women had visited the house on Tuesday Night and appeared to be arguing with Mr. Yau. Items were then taken from the house and Mr. Yau was also seen to leave the house moments later.

On Thursday Morning at Sriracha Police Station, after an investigation which lasted less than 12 hours, Police Major General Tanaert, Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, announced the arrest of three people in connection with the alleged murder of the Singaporean man. It was revealed that the female suspect, Khun Benjama aged 29 was having a relationship with the victim and her Husband, Khun Wirat aged 47 soon became aware of the extra-marital affair. Assisted by a third man, Khun Suchart aged 36, they paid a visit to the victim on Tuesday Night and demanded items from the house in compensation for the affair. Items were taken and it is believed that Mr. Yau was lured to the location of the murder to speak further about the relationship. When he arrived at the location, he was set-upon by the two men who have confessed to his murder. All three suspects are facing serious charges in relation to the murder and will be held on remand pending a court appearance.
