Is there a disturbing trend?

A search on similar alleged cases revealed some interesting facts and figures. The FreeAnwar website HERE reported that Ustaz Taib Azzamuden Mohd Taib (now the Member of Parliament for Baling, Kedah and one-time Grand Imam of the National Mosque) revealed a "BIG SECRET" which was a list of names of Federal Ministers and Chief Ministers implicated in sexual misconduct. This disclosure was made in response to the challenge by Zam (Zainuddin Maidin), Muhammad Mohd Taib, Khalil Yaakob, and Muhyiddin Yassin to come clean and reveal what he knew.

Zainuddin Maidin is remembered for his Al-Jazeera interview about the Bersih rally held in Kuala Lumpur where at the 2:18 section of the video clip he makes his statement about "erection in Malaysia". You can watch the video clip AT THIS LINK. You can see what happened during the Bersih rally AT THIS LINK.

You HAVE to visit THIS SITE to be reminded of how it has been EIGHT YEARS and the allegations have not been refuted or denied. Were any investigations carried out in response to that disclosure? Who was taken to task? Who faced disciplinary action? Who lost their Cabinet positions or status?

Zam’s “Big Secret” finally revealed

The “Big Secret” that the Parliamentary Secretary to the Information Ministry, Zainuddin Maidin, popularly known as Zam, wants made public has finally been revealed. Today, two Reformasi Websites, Mahazalim and Webreformis, listed the names of the Federal Ministers and Chief Ministers implicated in sexual misconduct.

On 2 April 2002, the Star reported Zam as saying that Ustaz Taib Azzamuden Mohd Taib is “keeping a big secret”. Ustaz (religious teacher) Taib, who is now the Member of Parliament for Baling, Kedah, was one-time Grand Imam of the National Mosque.

According to the New Straits Times of 29 April 2002, Muhammad Mohd Taib, one of UMNO’s Vice Presidents, and Khalil Yaakob, the previous Secretary General of UMNO, said that the Ustaz “was reluctant to reveal the truth…with regards to a serious national issue.”

Then, on 2 May 2002, Muhyiddin Yassin, another UMNO Vice President, urged the Ustaz to reveal the “big secret” that he was privy to in his tenure as the Grand Imam of the National Mosque. This plea was carried by the national radio stations.

On 7 May 2002, Ustaz Taib held a press conference at the PAS Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur to reveal the “big secret” Zam had accused him of “hiding” from the public.

“In my tenure as the Grand Imam of the National Mosque from 1992 to 1999, and the number two from 1986, various individuals and parties, in particular the government, referred many matters to me for my views, guidance, advice and counseling service,” explained the Ustaz.

“These were mainly problems related to Islamic matters and normally personal and confidential in nature.”

“However, I have been challenged by Zam (Zainuddin Maidin), Muhammad Mohd Taib, Khalil Yaakob, and Muhyiddin Yassin to come clean and reveal what I know.”

“As a Muslim, it is my duty to dispel all rumours and speculation and ensure that no one is under suspect. Therefore, on the insistence of these people, I have no choice but to clear the air and reveal the truth.”

The Ustaz then went through the list of “big secrets” that he had kept inside of him for so long. He, however, did not name names and said he would only do it if Zam insisted so.

Today, the Reformasi Websites identified all those that the Ustaz would not name:

1. A Chief Editor of a mainstream newspaper who had an affair with a young girl while his wife lay paralysed in bed – Zam himself.
2. A Chief Minister who eloped to Thailand to secretly marry his second wife – Muhammad Mohd Taib (then Chief Minister of Selangor).
3. A Federal Minister who was caught with a female artiste in a Port Dickson hotel room – Najib Tun Razak (Defence Minister) and Ziana Zain.
4. A Federal Minister whose brother was arrested for drug trafficking – Muhyiddin Yassin.
5. A Federal Minister who had an affair with someone else’s wife that eventually resulted in a broken marriage – Ruhaini Ahmad.
6. A Chief Minister who had an affair with someone else’s wife that eventually resulted in a broken marriage – Muhammad Mohd Taib.
7. A Chief Minister who had an affair with an under-aged girl – Rahim Tambi Chik (then Melaka Chief Minister).
8. A Chief Minister who had an affair with a girl who eventually gave birth to an illegitimate child – Shahidan Kassim (Perlis Chief Minister).
9. A Chief Minister who kept an under-aged mistress at a condominium in Kuala Lumpur – Shahidan Kassim.
10. A religious leader who had an illicit affair and who is now holding a prominent position in a very important government religious body - Ismail Ibrahim of the National Fatwah Council.
11. A Chief Minister who had an affair with his sister-in-law who have birth to an illegitimate child – Abu Hassan Omar (then Selangor Chief Minister).

(Harakah Daily) -

An online news portal focussing on East Malaysian politics has published a photo it claimed was Robengah, an Indonesian women said to be a victim of rape by a 'senior minister', as revealed by WikiLeaks and several blogs recently.

Sabahkini.net also named the minister, a staunch critic of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad who made a cabinet comeback during the premiership of Abdullah Badawi, and who is still serving in the current cabinet.

Accompanied with a statement by non-governmental organisation Migrant Care, which had earlier claimed that a cabinet minister was let off despite allegation of rape by his maid, the website quoted a Sabah PKR leader urging the minister’s resignation.

Since the news about the hitherto unnamed cabinet minister's rape case was first exposed through WikiLeaks, it has been making waves on the internet, with users posting comments on blogs and microblogging site Twitter

UMNO leader wants action

When queried by one Twitter user, UMNO Youth's new media chief Tun Faisal urged action to be taken against the minister.

Meanwhile, a prominent blogger Ahirudin Attan or 'Rocky Bru', who is also editor-in-chief of free daily paper The Malay Mail, made a sarcastic comparison by highlighting the news report about an Israelil minister found guilty for raping his assistant.

“We cannot let the people accuse our leaders of committing crime without investigation. But because we did not investigate and the case was closed, now it looks as if we are trying to blind the people,” he wrote.

The scandal immediately shot to become one of the most read stories in Harakahdaily. The incident allegedly took place in 2007, when Abdullah Badawi was the prime minister.

Meanwhile, Alex Ong, Migrant Care's coordinator, told Harakahdaily that his group had done a thorough investigation into the complaints in July 2008.

On August 1, 2007, Alex together with two leaders from Migrant Care issued a press statement calling for action. On December 27, local rights group Tenaganita republished the statement in the hope that the authorities will re-open the case following the WikiLeaks expose.

===============

I should caution Malaysian Insider to remember what happened to Lim Guan Eng over his allegation of underage rape by a former Malacca Chief Minister. In Malaysian culture and practice it is the messenger and the bearer of these kinds of news who tarnishes and muddies the good values that is practiced and promoted by UMNO and its leaders. Rape of Indonesian maids and under-aged girls by UMNO stalwarts is perfectly legal and acceptable. What is not permitted is talking about it.

Elegant silence on rape claim

JAN 2 — This must be the only country in the world where serious allegations of rape perpetrated by a Cabinet minister is met with silence (or elegant silence, since the rape allegedly happened during the Abdullah administration).

To recap, a week ago several bloggers alleged that a current minister raped his Indonesian maid while serving in the Abdullah administration in 2007. Apparently, then prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi covered up the crime and the minister continued his life unmolested.

Heck, he was not dropped from the Cabinet or cold-storaged. The maid who was allegedly raped, however, was sent home and her claims only came up in a report by Migrant Care, Indonesia’s migrant workers group.

Is there any truth to these allegations? Who knows? There has been absolutely nothing in either comment or denial from the minister (who has been identified by some bloggers).

The Migrant Care report on the matter is also circulating in cyberspace, with some lines blacked out although some have managed to use software tools to uncover the minister’s name.

The police, famously aggressive in breaking up peaceful assemblies and such, have not made any comment.

Silence has also been deafening from the Najib administration. It probably does not want any of the m&d from this incident to find its way to this administration.

But what of Abdullah? He has seen fit to comment on everything from PKR’s troubles to the attendance of a DAP MP at an aerobic session at the grounds of a mosque.

But on this very, very serious allegation of concealing a crime, he has maintained an “elegant silence”.

Malaysians should not tolerate this silence. The minister or Abdullah has to address this allegation. The man who used to think of himself as Mr Clean should come clean.

If either he or the minister accused of rape has been wronged, they can sue the bloggers for defamation. They can even go the whole nine yards and try for criminal defamation, as was done in a case taken up against blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin.

But if the rape did take place and there was a cover-up, then the minister should be charged with rape and Abdullah should have to answer for concealing the crime.

Unless, of course, the police and authorities are telling us in a subtle way that Umno ministers are above the law.

Raped Indon. maid fear family will be harmed like Altantuya...
from tumpang sekole...? by ali allah ditta

The Indonesian NGO pursuing the case of an alleged victim of rape by a minister in the cabinet of former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has said the victim and her family had pleaded for her ordeal to be kept under wraps. This was because they were afraid of the possible impact the scandal would have on them, and feared the reach of the Malaysian minister - currently a member of the present cabinet - even in Indonesia.

According to a purported letter by the sister of the alleged victim - who has been named in several blogs - and sent to the Indonesian and US embassies in Kuala Lumpur, she had asked for the incident to be kept under wraps because she said, “the minister has a lot of money and acquaintances in Indonesia.” “It is feared that something will be done to the family of my sister, such as was done in the Altantuya case in Malaysia,” read the letter dated mid-2007 in reference to slain Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.

The remains of Shaariibuu were found in late October 2006 in a remote location in Shah Alam. Although three persons were intially charged over the incident, only two were found guilty and face death by hanging. Abdul Razak Baginda - a close associate of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak - was released from the charge of abetment to murder.

When contacted at the time of the letter, the director of Jakarta-based Migrant Care Anis Hidayah had told Malaysiakini that they could not publicise the case as the victim and her family - though they had received counselling sessions and had been 'prepped' for the possible fallout over the scandal - had declined to come out in public and press charges against the said minister. Over the past few weeks the three-year-old issue reignited in cyberspace.

Malay Mail's editor-in-chief Ahirudin Attan also wrote about the incident in his Rocky Bru blog, saying the Prime Minister's Department then under Abdullah had also received reports of the allegations. On Monday Dec 27, 2009, migrant rights group Tenaganita called for a thorough investigation into the rape incident, which was alleged to have occurred on Feb 19, 2007. She was said to have been sent back to Indonesia the following day.

In an August 2007 report, Anis spoke of their July 24 meeting with the alleged rape victim - who had worked for eight years as a domestic worker for the cabinet minister - and their repeated attempts to elicit information from her while at her house in Madukara, Banjarnegara in Jawa Tengah. It was only with great reluctance that the victim admitted to Anis and two other Migrant Care activists that she had been raped by the minister.

She also begged Anis not to “widely publicise” the incident “out of fear and shame for her family and the people in her village”. According to Anis' report, the vicitm said “she is only a small person whereas (the minister) is a big person, so she is scared and asked that the rape case be closed.”

Tenaganita on Monday called on all quarters “not create any untruthful speculations before the results of final investigations”. The group also said that it will take the case to the international community to seek justice, should the investigations fail to achieve justice. Neither the minister in question nor PM Najib's administration have responded to the renewed cyberspace reports on the alleged incident.

Eh lihat nyonya jauh
Rasa sayang sayang eh...

Buah cempedak di luar pagar
Ambil galah tolong jolokkan
Saya budak baru belajar
Kalau salah tolong tunjukkan

Pulau pandan jauh ke tengah
Gunung daik bercabang tiga
Hancur badan di kandung tanah
Budi yang baik di kenang juga

Pisang emas dibawa berlayar
Masak sebiji di atas peti
Hutang emas boleh di bayar
Hutang budi di bawa mati

Batang Pak Rais ngeh tongtong
Hingga amah rumah di gasaknya
Kali ini dia minta tolong
Berapa rupiah kena di bayarnya
