Death Penalty: Taiwan totally opposite of Singapore's situation









I must highlight this irony. Taiwanese Minister of Law aka 法务部长 王清风， is currently willing to take herself to hell 下地狱, so to speak, to fight for Abolishment of Death Penalty, as the angry peasants and policemen are protesting against him, and they really want their Minister of Law to be in hell. These roles are entirely switched in Singapore as famiLEE LEEgime ministers are the ones wanting to impose Death Penalty, and there are groups of peasants protesting and seeking the abolishment of it.

There is now a petitioning campaign against Taiwanese Minister of Law by Taiwanese Peasants, and Netizens, they want to each write in a letter against this minister, to have to removed from office. The policemen demanded minister Wang to donate her SALARIES to feed those convicts on the death row.

There is also a group of families of victims of crimes, who suffered from the crimes committed by the convicts on death row. They are outraged by the minister. They are also campaigning against the minister who wants to abolish death penalty.

Currently there are some notorious convicts awaiting to be executed, and by Taiwanese law that meant Firing Squad or Gun Shot Executions. This is the reason that sparked on this conflict.

為了表達廢除死刑的立場，王清峰在《理性與寬恕》文章中指出，「死刑是最危險的刑罰，從事審判的是人不是神」，強調「殺人償命」只是造成另一個家庭陷入永遠無法啟口的傷痛，並不會使這個社會更好，要受害家屬用寬恕的力量，來洗淨復仇的怨恨。
王清峰還在文中強調，她寧可下台，也絕對不會在任內簽署任何一件死刑執行命令，還說如果死刑犯如果有改過自新的機會，甚至「願意為他們下地獄」。
不過，王清峰這番充滿「人道主義」的言論，卻引起網友的憤怒，有人痛批王清峰根本就是「假道學」、「偽善」，愛護死刑犯的生命權，卻枉顧被害者的性命，要她快點「滾下台」，要不然要發起「一人一信送王清峰下地獄」的活動。
還有網友痛批，王清峰願意給死刑犯改過自新的機會，「那又有誰來給受害者活著的機會」，認為她沒有想過受害者與家屬的心情，還佔著法務部長的職務，領納稅人的薪水，實在有夠差勁。

death penalty is good. u kill people for not apparent reason. you should be killed also.

The current Taiwan minister for law is a well known former human rights lawyer.
I doubt that everybody in the establishment agrees with her views.

一般認為，王清峰上任以來爭議不斷，可謂吳內閣「頭痛人物」，此次廢除死刑的言論過於偏激，成為「壓垮駱駝最後一根稻草」。


稍早的晚間，法務部常務次長吳陳鐶還曾召開記者會說，法務部長王清峰不會請辭，暫緩死刑是基於審核死刑案件執行實施要點依法行政，籲請大法官就聲請釋憲的死刑案件作成解釋。


王清峰主張廢除死刑，不僅在法務部成立「逐步廢除死刑研究推動小組」，十日還發表專文，指出廢除死刑是為捍衛憲法的生命權；她也曾說：「寧可下台，也絕不會簽署任何一件死刑執行，甚至宣示願代替死刑犯被執行，廢除死刑立場非常堅定，並舉馬總統的言論為自己背書。


法 務部長王清峰宣稱在任內不執行死刑，引發國內諸多議論，今天行政院、總統府先後表達立場，都希望法務部能夠依法行政，法務部晚間召開記者會還表示法務部長 心情未受影響，沒有倦勤的意思，應該會堅守崗位。不料晚間情勢大逆轉，法務部長王清峰提出口頭請辭，並先後獲得行政院長吳敦義、馬英九總統批准。

Dear PAP ministers, we don't need you to die for our peasants but how about just rotan your backside only?:p

How much only is this Taiwanese minister's salary, she is willing to really go to hell and get executed! PAp minister took world's highest salaries, and what are they willing to do for Singaporeans? They are only willing to receive more salary increments nothing more.

death penalty is a good deterrent. Singapore is RELATIVELY safe as opposed to other countries.

I'm a neutral on this.

spend 10 minutes listening to a pro death penalty activist and I'm for it. spend another 10 minutes listening to a against death penalty activist and I'm be against it.
Why can't peoples have a national referendum on sensitive issues like this when they can do referendum on trivial issues.

National Referendum - majority win - and the same referendum cannot be pushed forward for 20 years after the last.

The problem for the former Justice Minister was not her views on the death penalty. Some people are for it, some are against it.
The problem was that she claimed that she would never sign the execution order for those already on death row, as long as she was in office. This view is different from that of President Ma, who is against the death penalty, but stated clearly when he was the Justice Minister that those who had already been sentenced would still face the death penalty as per the current law.
Of course, she is entitled to her view and her actions.

I believe that the death penalty should remain, but it should only be enforced when there is evidence beyond a reasonable doubt and when there no or very little mitigating circumstances.

曾向劉兆玄表態　王清峰早就想走？

</td></tr> </tbody></table>王清峰請辭法務部長，震撼政壇，但有黨政高層透露，王清峰想走已經不是第一次，早在前行政院長劉兆玄時代，王清峰就多次因為司法改革與查賄不力等爭議，多次向劉兆玄請辭，但這回她最在意的廢除死刑沒有得到府院高層支持，加上輿論撻伐，王清峰才鐵了心，決定打包走人。
前一天，閣揆吳敦義大筆一揮，終於簽了王清峰的辭呈，王清峰確定走人，如今高層傳出，這不是她第一次萌生去意。
「金門的賄選一票已經升高到一萬塊了？」「我有聽說。」「去金門的時候宣導沒有用？」「有用，我們的檢察署…」「你的有用是說五千塊一票變成五萬塊一票叫有用？」這是王清峰與民進黨立委高志鵬在立法院的對話；為了查賄選，王清峰在劉內閣時代多次像這樣槓上立委，據說當時她就向劉兆玄表示，自己真的不想做了。
為了陳前總統的人權問題，也常常讓王清峰招架不住，她與民進黨立委潘孟安曾有如下對話：「這麼卑微的要求，你做部長如果沒辦法做，我跟你說，我就跟賴清德說，我們就全面癱瘓你們行政單位！」「委員希望你不要威脅我！」
這 回王清峰主動拋出的廢死刑爭議，卻讓她的民調直直落，最後連府院高層都要她「知所進退」，這也成為王清峰不得不掛冠求去的最後一根稻草；她原本還說，「如 果就這麼走了會是國際笑話」，如今府院拋出王清峰早就想走的訊息，是真有其事，還是為了合理化府院的強勢作法，引發外界聯想。（新聞來源：東森新聞）
