Singaporeans.. Norminate ALL the remaining GRCs! Stand Up for SG!

I am priming an effort to see all remaining uncontested seats to get nomination. This is very strategic and I am asking Singaporean voters to all do your parts. The points as follows:

Voters get to go to poll. No more walking over. There are many late-Singaporeans who died in this country without any chance to touch a ballot a single time in entire lifetime. This is sad. We are not going to let this continue in Singapore further please. No nomination means walkover, and voters rights are all written off. There is also no figure to measure anything all the while, and PAp cliams that they have mandate and high support. When there is a poll then there is result to measure up LEEgime. Voters will be very happy to have chance to vote, even if there were no rallies or other campaigns, so just nominate the otherwise walkover seats.

Engaged LEEgime's Election Machine FULLY. Tie up their resources, tie up their time and bandwidth, let the tense be felt to maximum extend. In PAp, they have to get all the dogs to work OT, they have to spend, they have to walk constituencies, logistics, they have to let HDB and Town Council do extra hardworks. The Election Dept will get stretched to maximum, needs to print ballots and boxes and documents, need many presiding officers, counting officers, prepare poll and counting stations, need many mata, vehicles, schools, equipments, computers, need to spend millions more.

The above also limits the possible polling dates, mostly delayed further.

Strategic Diversion. Instead of let them focus on hot contested areas, pull their hind legs, and applies pains from elsewhere behind. Much harder for them to fight. Let them feel the fire from every angle and all sides. Too many issues and angles, they are one LEEgime, if they take position one way to counter one SMC opponent it will suffer draw back from another GRC when different candidate confront them the other ways. Oppositions don't have to all come from same angle, but LEEgime ought to, if they don't they are considered to be splitting and in self-conflict.

Reduce LEEgime's bandwidth to help each other, in the past their walked over ministers help their hot contested areas like Cheng San GRC and so on. If you set fire on each and every of their own backyard, they won't be so free to assist battles in other wards any longer. ;) So? File Nomination Papers Singaporeans! When they are not helping each other they will also be blaming each other for scoring own goals, you already saw these. It will only be worst! ;)

Strategic advantage, Chinese call this 四两拨千斤。 When there is no 3 corner, 100% deposit will be secured, we need not incur any extra expenses at all, just nominate. And the LEEgime have to spend millions more and do many many times more. There is an enormous strategic advantage here. Nothing to lose, much to gain. When they feel the stress and strain, the fight becomes easy on our side, our originally disadvantaged position will be returned.

Advantage in numbers, there are things that even very well experienced election fighters had neglected. I take for example, the national TV election message broadcasting is given to all parties and even independent candidates on entity basis, even the tiny guys apart from political parties can get air time to speak to voters. In many circumstance entire LEEgime must only be counted as 1 in the contest, tiny contestant also 1, it is high advantage against them.

A flexible spare pool of candidates and contesting area, like a gel, there are many candidates who are unable to form a complete team, there are parties which have excess or shortage of candidates, there are many difficulties in sorting out 3 corner areas, there are candidates crossing over party lines in every GE. When there is an organized measure to nominate remaining uncontested GRCs, it acts very well like a sponge. Excess candidates can shift over here, and shortage can be filled from here, like a pool.

I want to point out one advantage LEEgime has over opposition that is they are single party, thus they can centralize allocation of candidates and constituencies. Opposition's mechanism of negotiating areas, and pooling candidates are very poor and self-defeating, this must be changed. If there is no better mechanism worked out, strong disadvantage will persist here in every GE. In the very 1st place, I think opposition must 1st craft out these GRCs like Tg Pargar AMK Marine Parade to be utilized like a pool and managed by group or persons who are non member of any party. They need to do this step before listing up seats that are interested by each party, that means, there are 3 categories of seats, No-Party interested, Single Party interested, and multi-corner seats.

It is too obvious now, that we have more than 87 interested candidates, while having still so many multi-corner areas and several GRC may walkover. It is simply a scenario of poor organization and cooperation. A laughingstock for oppositions in other countries. :(

I must point out again that in other countries, they solved this kind of problems a long time ago, with well established mechanism such as Primary Elections. Primary Elections are held within each party before they decide the parties candidates. We should also take reference with other countries where they have some less formal mechanisms to resolve contention between parties.

Socialist Front's Press Statement is the best illustration of the scenario, Mr. Chia told us that they have the GRC team manpower but lack the resources to run a credible campaign. Therefore they are not entering the contest. This is however the BEST EVER EXCEPTION in Singaporean history that they are so noble in refraining from 3 corner fights for the better of Singapore overall instead of just considering for their own party. They are going that far by a party resolution against own Chairman.

While I totally respect SF principal and desire of a good campaign, I like to see their candidates nominated for the contest to fill the uncontested seats, and I am willing to help any such parties go through hurdles. I suggest that opposition will allow members to nominate as independents to just fill the uncontested seats, and do so even without putting up a costly campaign. This way, the only necessity is nominators and deposit funds.

I like to point out that deposit funds are indeed very safe this GE, especially when there is no multi-corner fight, and candidate are not doing anything strongly negative to piss off voters. I urge those Singaporeans who want to vote and can afford to loan money as candidate deposits to come out. All you need to do is to pay it at Ministry Of Finance at Treasury Building,100 High St, Singapore 179434 , I think 9th floor, you need not even go personally, let them know that you are depositing for GE, and specify the candidate, fill the form and they will give you receipt for your money. You get back your full refund like a week after poll, as long as candidate gets at least 12.5%.

Eliminating Muli-Corners. This is an important factor in eliminating multi-corner, because the candidates who don't have a complete team to contest in any GRC, can pool up to nominate at uncontested GRC instead of going into multi-corner fighting.

Think for your voters! Why let LEEgime walkover in these GRCs and voters got no chance to go to poll on polling day, and on the other hand, in these SMCs these voters got 2 opposition candidates and have to ponder which one to vote for. Is this how Singaporean opposition parties treat the voters? Come on! It only means disappointment to our voters. Don't do this!

To be frank as a voter myself, I would be very disappointed either to have no chance to vote or have a 3 corner ballot to make me choose one opposition. I am even fed-up to see this going on although it does not look like it's happening to the ward I live in. Put yourself into the shoes of voters, are you happy to see this?

I am coordinating among candidates and opposition fighters for this goal, details will not be leaked out until time is ripe. Interested candidates and Singaporeans who wish to help please contact me in email. [email protected]

NSP will not contest Moulmein-Kallang GRC

By Faris Mokhtar | SingaporeScene – Sun, Apr 17, 2011 2:27 AM SGT

The National Solidarity Party announced that it will not contest in Moulmein-Kallang GRC and Yuhua SMC. (Yahoo! …

The National Solidarity Party (NSP) has announced it will not contest Moulmein-Kallang group representation constituency (GRC) in the upcoming General Election.
NSP's decision to withdraw will probably see the Workers' Party (WP) contesting in the area and prevent a three-way fight which it says, will only dilute the opposition votes.
The party also revealed they will give up Yuhua single-member constituency (SMC) to the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP).
Speaking to the media on Saturday afternoon, NSP announced its decision to contest in Chua Chu Kang GRC. Their candidates who were supposed to contest in Moulmein-Kallang will be fielded there instead.
Leading the five-member Chua Chu Kang team will be party president Sebastian Teo. The other candidates are NSP's "prize catch" and star couple Hazel Poa and Tony Tan, Jeisilan Sivalingam, all 41, and Nor Lella Mardiiiah, 37, who heads the party's Malay bureau.
The decision to withdraw from contesting at the four-member Moulmein-Kallang GRC was a "painful one", said party president Sebastian Teo but he added that it was taken in interest of "opposition harmony".
Teo told Yahoo! Singapore that he and council member Tan Chee Kien met WP's chairman Sylvia Lim and her party members last month. He added that WP had expressed a "strong desire" and insisted on fielding its candidates there.
One of the reasons for backing out included WP's refusal to reveal its candidates who will be contesting in the area, leaving the NSP with uncertainties. This, Teo said, 'does not make it worth for the NSP to wait till the last minute'.
"For the benefit of the voters, for the benefit of the whole opposition, I think we have to make our decision early.
"As a responsible party, we should give our residents an informed kind of choice as early as we can," he said.
The party's decision to drop out came as a surprise considering that it has always been interested in the newly-carved out area since the electoral boundaries report was released.
However, the party were also active in Chua Chu Kang GRC in the last elections.
NSP's former secretary-general and current treasurer, Steve Chia contested in the area when it was an SMC in 2006. He lost by 20.74 per cent to incumbent anchor MP and Manpower Minister, Gan Kim Yong.
Candidate Hazel Poa said that one of the reasons to contest there is due to its close geographical proximity to Pioneer SMC and Jurong GRC, where they will be fielding candidates. This will allow them to share resources.
Besides Chua Chu Kang, the party is also said to be eyeing Marine Parade GRC with its secretary-general Goh Meng Seng confirming that they are "seriously considering" it.
Weighing on this possibility, Teo said, "We have not come to an official decision, but we are discussing about it and have serious thought on contesting."
He added that they will field quality candidates if they are to pose a challenge in the area and dismissed suggestions that they plan to test the ground.

When they all have common enemy or objective, then they will throw aside differences and work towards the common good. This is good news!!! :)

I will still expect the SG oppositions to cover different angles and perspective as different parties. This is a good thing still. When all the opposition only attack from a single angle then it is too easy for LEEgime to counter. Let them face attacks front and back from different kinds of oppositions, this way Chinese says 死得很难看!Malay says Mati Terok Terok!

However, when GE is here, have to put aside differences and together give LEEgime the hard time.
:)

Now I hope NSP also shift their manpower and resources towards an uncontested GRC instead.

:)

Lock down the old dog thief the wooden and the Ass Loong, don't let them be so free to go around campaigning for their endangered ministers. Nominate and keep their own backyard on fire. They will know the taste!

This time round we have more than 87 willing candidates so why deploy them to 3 corners? Insane liao?

Stand up for SG Oppositions! No to 3 corners! No to Walkovers!
:)

hahaha...uy.....there are 12 SMC and 15 GRC.
there so many APs...simple maths.
sooner if not later, multi-corners fights are inevitable.
the only solution.....merging of the APs is the only way to go.

so far it looks like only Sembawang, Marine Parade, AMK and Tanjong Pagar remain uncertain.

Tanjong Pagar no word from DPP yet.
AMK still waiting on SPP.
Sembawang probably WP as they been seen doing walkabout there, but no official word.
Marine Parade still waiting on NSP.

it will be sad if Andrew Kuan goes against WP at Joo Chiat, the winning margin could be really close there.

someone should talk to him.

when DPP or the weaker Opposition teams contesting these 4 GRC increase PAP popular vote, don't complain. ;)

We are proudly in progress I must say, I grew up here seeing the bastards form govt on nomination days, due to too many outright walkovers. The last GE was already a breakthrough that more than 50% nominated on nomination day for 1st time in decades. Now better still, there are at least a hundred contestants from all sorts of oppositions.

We are not there yet to see 300-400 contestant going for less than 100 seats. This however is the case in many other countries.

We are now in between, or twilight zone! We have multi-corners plus uncontested seats in a mix, this is however evil. I must use this slogan: No to Multi-Corner! No to Walk-Over!

With a healthy shift we can get a balance this GE. That is what we would all hope to see, and LEEgime will be pressurized towards the max.

Singaporeans will stand up and we will one day see 200 candidates coming for say 87 seats, primary election within party must become necessary, there is then not possible to avoid multi-corner. Eventually we should see 1 candidate from each party to a contest, and our voters will be happy to see multiple-choices under that situation. But not for this round! This round we need to make history to break the LEEgime' hold, especially on GRC.

If we could reach a nomination for all seats this GE it will be another meaningful landmark for SG politics.:)

If more Opposition get in, the LEEgime will give Opposition a hard time. For once, they can put blame on Opposition and split them. So, winning the election is only the start. It is maintaining the voters support that is most important.

Decisions now will impact post-election, if and only if the Opposition wins.

I can not pitcha lobang now. :Z

But it is 4 GRCs and you know what? it means hundreds of thousands of voters still may not be able to goto vote on polling day. That is very bad for Singaporean voters. Have still no chance to exercise their most basic rights as citizens. :(

hahaha....you miss the fundamental point...it is not 87 seats......but 12 SMC and 15 GRCs....go figure the difference.

True of course the fight is NEVER just the election. I had always been saying that the fight is daily life 24 hrs. It was so wrong in the past that we had left thing aside completely for every 5 years and only looked at it for 2 weeks of election time, and then forget it again until another 5 years elapsed.

The bad experience after GE1991 was SDP after wining 3 seats started to break apart. So just wining some seat is far less than enough, Singaporeans have to watch and monitor and participate in national politics daily. When the power proportion changed from 82/2 in the parliament, we have to also monitor opposition not just ruling party. The more seats they got the more we need them to do right. Lon Pray Pray. LEEgime must do their jobs, and so must opposition. If not then we humtum them as well! Fair?

GRC is LKy old dog's Ah Beng cheating system lah. We must get rid of it ASAP.

I think RP may not have enough candidates for West Coast either.

Looking at the SMCs... Radin Mas, Pioneer, Joo Chiat and Sengkang West look like 3-corner fights. How can this be peacefully resolved by Nomination Day?

This is one more aspect of issues, party ego will lead to the sad fact that they actually have no ability to nominate the seats which they claimed to be contesting, and eventually on the nomination day gives LEEgime the walkover. I don't want to point to which party here for the time being.

But I can suggest a countermeasure for patriotic and brave Singaporeans, bring your NIRCs and wait outside nomination center without organizing anything, you have half a day at least to do it, if no opposition nominate your ward, you voters nominate yourself - DIY to give yourself a chance to vote.;) Within the next few days you can still look for the deposit money, before the poll. If we had few dozens of such brave and patriotic peasants outside each nomination center, then Singapore should be proud.
:)

We know that oppositions are coming up in SG but not quite ready as yet. We need to DIY certain things when they can not do it for us.

They also need the help, I plea to Singaporeans to give your money and time and efforts, more importantly to the new and weaker parties. SF for example has a GRC team but can not enter the battle short of funds and volunteers. When there isn't enough polling and counting agent for a GRC, LEEgime can rig all they want.
