Credited for strengthening the British economy and the stature of the UK in Europe

she was never the 1st prime minister,,, she was the first primie minister for UK,,,

Actually to make Britain competitive they have to get rid of the unions.

Advantages of having a competitive workforce with regards to lower unit labour costs will increase country employment for the future.

It is all basic macroeconomics. But disadvantages will be short term structural unemployment and unchanged wage rates.

Very much like Singapore.

it not always labour cost that dictate whether manufacturing can make $$. german labour cost more expensive than the brits but the german made products are still selling worldwide while major UK manufacturers most closed down. VW, BMW and Mercedes are major automotive manufacturers while non of the UK car industries are still in british hands and have massively scaled down operations. price not everything, quality more important.

same logic, ah tiong made car very cheap here but most consumers here rather pay more for more quality.

Margaret Thatcher was a very divisive PM, there is no doubt about that but whilst I did not always agree with her political views, I did admire her patriotism, courage of her conviction and no nonsense approach

The major difference between LKY and Margaret Thatcher was that the latter was a World figure and stateswoman who influenced many events including the ending of the Cold War, European Union policy and the Falklands Islands conflict.

Outside of the Singapore bubble, once could argue the former has done nothing.

Both are neoliberal. But Lee is dictatorial. Thatcher won elections fairly.

She was a big fish in a big pond and he thought he knew about the fish and the pond
