Qingdao City, Shandong Province, E China - Aug 4, 2012

Three migrant workers
in east China's Qingdao city heroically rescued a young woman
from being swept away by strong tides near a local seaside last Thursday.

The woman was thought to have been attempting to take pictures while standing on a
rock few meters from the seashore when she was overpowered by incoming sea waves in
Qingdao, the typhoon-hit Shandong Province.

The rescued woman has since been sent to hospital, and is said to be receiving further
treatment and in good spirits, whilst the rescue trio have been praised by the local
community. They are also in hospital, being treated for minor injuries sustained from
clashes with nearby rocks at the scene.

The woman was part of a tourist group, according to witnesses, at the seaside bank,
who were planning to see Typhoon Damrey which was forecasted to arrive in Qingdao
on the day.

Witnesses said that she was standing way out front from the crowd, before being
overtaken by a five-meter high wave. She has since been identified as "Ms. Ma", a
Beijing resident.

Witnesses further added, soon after the woman was in danger, three men who were
passing by at the time, immediately dived into the sea within seconds to save her.

Faced with rough waves and facing difficulties to gain their balance in the raging water,
nonetheless, the three managed to surround the woman before taking her ashore to
the safety of the waiting crowd. She was reported to be unconscious and weak upon
being rescued.

One of the heroes Yang Luxing said he was completely exhausted afterward and
feeling sick after swallowing seawater. According to Yang, the trio are migrant workers
from Shandong and Henan provinces.
