My understanding is that the victim found in the church was a Singaporean Chinese man.
Till today, not a single news report or update.

Remember years back at Queensway Circle ( now no more), a young woman was shot dead by a bullet with a bore not commonly found...till this day, no updates..

Tell you something that the Police have never revealed and which solves 95% of cases in the past. GD has also hinted.

The moment it become evident that its a potential case and SIS is called, detectives will go straight to Singtel/Phone companies and download all logs of victims phones (mobile, home, office etc). Typically the last contact is more likely to throw light on the case or is involved in the case. They go straight for the person or person and these guys are just stunned by quick appearence of the Police and the body language gives the game away.

The trouble is when no phone is involved or when unknown person to the victim is involved. For gang related murders from sudden fights, they will call the headman for the area. Within hours, they will get their answer even if it is a fellow gangmember. Obviously the headman is not going to reveal that he identified his own member. If the headman does not help, totall harrassment will take place.

Fingerprints, DNA are all secondary but very important secure conviction in court.

I'm sure there's evidence pointing to the suspect.

I have heard of members of the SPF downloading info from telcos for their own private usage, as in their own siblings divorce case with the wife. Do they need a court order or there is a privacy law on this in SINgapore?, getting logs of calls made by mobile phone, land line or even emails etc??

or any police personnel can just go to any Telcos and just get the information they like on whomever?

Are you referring to the case at St Annes Church in Bt Batok? If yes, where have you been hiding?
That one is classified as suicide case and waiting for CI. Reported on ChannelNewsAsia / WanBao.

Court order required for wiretapping but not for logs. Police powers are very extensive. No only those who are on official duty otherwise sackable conduct. Can also be charged in court like the young chap recently.

The dead Chinese woman was the second wife of the Indian chap's law firm. The Indian bugger is separated from his first wife. The dead woman was working for him. The one who was arrested was a client of the firm. Not sure yet what the motive was.
