If the Portuguese shines in Euro 2012, agent and club are likely to play a different tune. In the meantime, Utd will be better off scouting players who are not involved in Euro 2012.

LEGENDARY keeper Peter Schmeichel is returning to Manchester United.

The Great Dane is to take up a new role at Old Trafford — most likely as an ambassador for the Red Devils.

Schmeichel, 48, was United’s greatest No 1, winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League, three FA Cups and a League Cup in his eight-year spell at the club.

In his final season, he played for Manchester City — but it is at United where he still enjoys hero status.

It would be nice if he could take on a coaching role.

Man Utd seek £5M for Berbatov sale
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Mon, 06/04/2012 - 12:21

Manchester United hope to gain £5 million from the sale of Dimitar Berbatov.

The Manchester Evening News says Berbatov is also expected to go before the new season in August.

The Bulgarian has been deal a blow with his former club Bayer Leverkusen, who were keen on a return, claiming they’ve pulled out of the race because United want a fee for their 2008 £30.75m club record buy.

The Reds will hope to recoup £5m for the 31-year-old.

5 million pounds and still no takers? Wow, that's another 25million pounds down the drain. It may go down as one of the worse signings of all time.

what a bloody piece of poor business...30m. Trying to recoup 5m. A loss of 25m. But very likely to be free transfer.

So far, he has scored 49 goals (source: wiki) - so its about 600K per goal? Fucking expensive.

No wonder Harry Redknapp is best of chums with Fergie.

Fergie thought he could get away as he did with Juan Sebastien Veron. Just wondering how much they could possibly raise from a fire sale. We've still got Park, Anderson and possibly Nani. Troubled times ahead.

its a shame how they treat Berbatov & from what we see, he has been a good servant - of cse his high pay ensures he keep quiet and collect pay check every month without using his legs much, xcept to step on the accelerator & brakes of his Bentley.

But a golden boot winner is frozen on the bench is shocking.

Fergie will have to take a big loss to flock all the deadwood out - Anderson & Nani.

Park i reserve my comments. Because he did score important goals before, some seasons ago, and Fergie will remember him for that.

United confirm Kagawa transfer

Kagawa: Moving to Manchester United

Manchester United have confirmed they will be signing Japan forward Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund, subject to a medical and work permit.
United have made their first signing of the summer after confirming they have "reached agreement" to buy 23-year-old Kagawa from the German Bundesliga champions.

Negotiations have been on-going with the Japan international for a number of weeks. The fee is reported to be £12million, rising to £17million depending on various clauses.

The transfer is subject to a medical and work permit, although this is thought to be a formality.

It is not anticipated the deal will be completed until the end of the month as Kagawa is currently on international duty and played in Japan's 3-0 World Cup qualifying round victory over Oman at the weekend.

"Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed terms with both Borussia Dortmund and Shinji Kagawa for his transfer to the club," said a United statement.

"The deal is subject only to the player medical and obtaining a UK work permit. These conditions are anticipated to be completed by the end of June.

"Further details will be announced in due course."

Although the deal has been anticipated for some time, it is good news for United.

On Monday, Eden Hazard explained why he thought Chelsea had "a better project" than the Red Devils, who lost their Premier League crown to Manchester City in agonising fashion last month.

Many United fans are privately concerned about the funds being made available to Sir Alex Ferguson and felt strengthening the midfield area was an absolute imperative.

Kagawa has already done enough in his two seasons in Germany to avoid the fate of Park Ji-sung, who was initially condemned as a "trophy" signing following his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in 2005, designed purely to sell shirts in the lucrative Far East market.

He was named in the Bundesliga's team of the season for 2010-11 despite being absent through injury for half the campaign.

Kagawa then went on to score 16 goals last term, when Dortmund completed the domestic league and cup double.

Ferguson and assistant Mike Phelan made a personal check on the 23-year-old the day before United's final match at Sunderland, when they saw Kagawa grab one goal and create another in Dortmund's 5-2 German Cup triumph over Bayern Munich.

Defender Rio Ferdinand was quick to offer his best wishes on Twitter. "Welcome to Shinji Kagawa for his transfer to Man Utd," he said. "Here's to a succesful (sic) time here bro!"

well, he did made a world record signing for Kagawa- the highest for an Asian player at 12m pounds (potentially going to 17m).

the brute reality is that there is no money. There is only a way out - to sell out to Qatar. Otherwise, we will play the third fiddle after Man C & Chelsea.
