We got a latino guy coming by once a week to vacuum and do the chems. 35 bucks a month.

Oh I almost forgot! You are Arsetralia, land of the ripp off prices and 400 dollar an hour electricans so I guess you cant afford it.

Jealous, huh?

Hey Ned/Fish, I am thinking of adding pool at my backyard (still thinking, heehee). For cost effective reason, I am adding synthetic grass and a trampoline.

I wonder what's the maintenance cost for a heated pool ? What about the water bill ?

wah, heated pool. best is to build an indoor (patio wood) and have solar heating. the electricity bill is a killer these days.

edited: make it a salt water pool, cheaper to maintain in the long run. One of my sunnybank friend had her pool filled up with soil after the kids had grown up and move out.

I am using an indoor jacuzzi spa for winter. Moreover, after my 1.5hp heat pump broke, I do not want to heat the pool anymore because that will also increase the amount of chorine I use. So, I just cover the pool at night which reduce much of the heat loss.

But it is the cleaning of pool, and I am lazy to removing all the krawler tubes after the cleaning.

Actually I am not sure if the pool is the way to go these days, consider that they no longer add value to a property.
But if you are using solar, then it is fine. And your kids can help connecting all the pipes whenever you neeed cleaning.
Personally,
If I want to have a swim, I think I will go to the nearby recreation heated pool. If I want a soak, i have my indoor spa.

Sometimes, I think I will let the pool water turn green.

The skimmer sucks up all the surface crap but leaves sink to the bottom. That's why for 35 bucks a guy comes over and does the ph chlorine and cleaning for us once a week.

The wife and I considering converting the pool to salt water its the latest trend here alot less maintenance. We met with the pool co guy and since prices are so low now we might go for it.

We went house shopping this weekend u wont beleive what we can get now our interest rates for a 30 year is now less than 4% Wow we can upgrade to a 5 bedroom 4000 sq ft two storey house with pool changing room, mother in law cottage and seperate 4 car garage now on the lake with 20,000 square foot lot in a great location prices here really too good now...............

You are truly lucky to have these depressed market conditions on your side - it seems that the most desirable lifestyle is achievable in the US right now - at a steep discount.

A colleague just got back from Australia and said it was so expensive and freezing cold he had to wear 3 layers and his teeth were chattering and had frostbitten fingers and got sick there. Poor chap has never been exposed to cold so it was a shock for him.

Oh I remember Perth weather! 40 degrees in January/winter is depressing somemore.

Worst weather ever! So glad I left Perth!

Wife and I are having a friend of a friend who is a homebuilder here. He heard we want a house and is coming over to show us why we should build a brand new one...........

You can do a free search on any MLS site and there you can see currently properties typically run from US$ 30 per square foot upwards depending on location.

We have seen some excellent examples for 60-80 USD per square - prices you wont see anywhere else in the industrialized western world.

I'm on East Coast. There are hundreds of thousands of houses u can buy. I have seen prices from 10K. 500K can buy you a mansion. 300K can buy u a house that would cost 10 Million in SG or in Australia for that matter.

With the recent Foreclosure paperwork news in the US, what will this mean for housing?
