Maid broke toddler's bone

A FILIPINO maid who was massaging her employer's three-year-old son pulled his leg so forcefully that his right thigh bone was broken.

Myla Cabradilla Cabuenas, 30, then told her employer that the toddler had fallen at home and injured his knee.

But the employer, who had wired her home with cameras, viewed the video footage and saw what the maid had done to the boy. He has a history of developmental delay and suffers from epilepsy.

She told her husband, a 36-year-old engineer, who then called the police.

Yesterday, the maid was jailed nine months for ill-treating the child under her care at her employer's home on July 1.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Asran Samad said the maid was alone with the boy when she placed him on a mattress and began massaging his legs. She had been hired three months earlier to perform basic physiotherapy techniques, including massaging the boy, and caring for him.

Did the parents provide any training for the maid to provide basic "physiotherapy"

The maids is from a 3rd world country & I'm sure she would prefer to get a job as a physiotherapist if she was trained & capable.

I think they should be punishing the parents. It was they who exposed the child to an untrained & unskilled maid.

After reading this I burn with anger !

Maids should be given a proper training and should
be paid much higher less they be exploited for
such routines . A cheaper solution for medical care .
The child is useless and would be discarded back then .

I hated the SINGAPORE system . Eternally exploiting the
ignorance of simple people and bound them with
contracts and slavery .

We must hold the government bodies negligent for their
part to proper governance .

A proper physiotherapist does not do your housework for you.

She was employed as a maid and not as a physiotherapist. The employers should be prosecuted as well.

jailed nine months

This is yet the best of Singapore to jail someone more than a assault case .

Doemestic helpers should not nanny any aged or infants .

It's just a cheap solution for our expensive medical care .

The couple should be prosecuted .
