Bandung - yes good for shopping - many factory outlets selling branded goods at very attractive prices. Also Pasar Baru has fantastic amount of goods, and very very crowded as usual.
Many Malaysians go there because many Malay clothes very stylish and cheap - helped by direct and cheap but lousy AirAsia services. Some scenery as usual - active volcano and hot spring. But generally the town is not fantastic. For a change, it's good to go to a third world city and enjoy the local flavour and while away the time. But do watch out for safety - some relatives went there happily but came back in SOS air ambulance - minibus went downhill as brakes putus. Till now four months later in nursing home with many metals in the body.
Another alternative is Bt Tinggi - the one in Sumatra - not the one in Malaysia. One of the cleanest towns in Indonesia - much cooler and orderly. Very peaceful - beautiful scenery and much less crowded with some nice Dutch colonial buildings. Surrounding the city are beautiful rice fields, windy roads, volcanoes and volcanic lake, canyons and of course local Minangkabau culture to immerse in.
Err... no overnite girls as far as I know... just pure, simple culture and nature.
