Major Quake Strikes Off Aceh Coast

Major Quake Strikes Off Aceh Coast

A powerful 7.2-magnitude quake hit the Indonesian province of Aceh on Sunday, seismologists said, triggering a local tsunami alert.

The alert was withdrawn at 2:30 p.m. Jakarta time.

The quake struck at 12:59 pm (0559 GMT) 66 kilometers (41 miles) southwest of Meulaboh on the Aceh coast, according to the local Meteorological and Geophysics Agency, in an area devastated by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

The US Geological Survey put the magnitude of the quake at 7.4.

There are no reports of any casualties or damage.

Detik.com reported that the quake created panic among residents in the provincial capital, Banda Aceh.

So which million dollar homes got shaken?

East coast and Sentosa homes for sure. West Coast as well.
