All About Diets

In the news recently was an 82-year-old Indian man claiming not having taken any food or drink for 70 years. There're many types of diet regimes. Just in terms of sustenance for life, not necessarily for culinary delights as in eat to live instead of live to eat.

1. Eating anything edible that's available and affordable (and permissible where religious laws apply). That of course applies to the vast majority of the world's population.

2. Vegetarians eating only fruits and vegetables for health, philosophical or religious reasons. Abstention from meat includes not using animal oil for cooking, and most vegetarians include not using alcoholic seasonings too.

3. Fruitarians eating only fruits, not even vegetables. This looks the most originally natural as human diet as human beings have natural distaste for raw vegetables and meats. It was after the discovery and mastery of fire in cooking that human beings began to eat cooked vegetables and meats.

4. Liquids only, no solid foods. This can be further divided into full liquids (anything that can be ingested by drinking or melting in the mouth) and clear liquids (only liquids that are transparent or at least translucent). Note that liquid diets may not be necessarily vegetarian or fruitarian. Some may include soups boiled with meats or bones for flavoring or nutrition.

5. Intravenous drip. One can be kept alive even in coma on a hospital bed for years as the bloodstream is supplied with essential nutrients.

Is it really possible for humans to survive on air and sunlight? We know that even plants can't. They also require water and mineral nutrients absorbed through various ways, e.g. roots, branches, leaves etc.

bro,
apparently we haven't understood everything yet and we're still discovering new stuffs every other day

having said that, I need to quantify by saying that the human body has been engineered to take in nutrients on a regular basis, but it doesn't mean there aren't other ways of sustaining the physical body in ways we haven't learned or discovered.

By natural reflex, we take in nutrients through our months. It was thousands of years before jabs and drips were invented.

Tastes and appetites were mostly conditioned and developed after the invention of cooking. For example, Koreans, Thais, Malays (including Indonesians) and Indians have high appetites for chilies, but not Japanese, Chinese (except Szechuanese), Europeans and Americans.

Quite surprise that you gave up your Egyptian passport and move over to China.

Of course, this guy doesn't need to eat or drink, just struts around with occasional cigarettes courtesy of well wishers.

That's the ultimate diet. That Indian is no match for this PRC; that Indian is practically bedridden, with or without food.

:oIo: to foodellsers who overcharge and underserve. So foodsellers actually can't even cook.
