Charged with spiking coffee

AN UNEMPLOYED woman was charged on Thursday with spiking the coffee of a man so as to steal from him. Vicky Herman Quek Bee Lan, 44, allegedly put sleeping pills into a cup of coffee which was consumed by Mr Lim Yang Hua, 61, a retiree, at the void deck of Block 2C Upper Boon Keng Road on Monday. She is believed to be involved in similar cases and was remanded for a week for further investigation. She will be back in court on Dec 31. If convicted, she faces a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.
