Coffin too big for furnace

THE Singaporean who died in a freak accident at a car wash in Malaysia last Saturday had to have his coffin switched at the last minute because it was too big. The Malaysian coffin that Mr Seow Wei Hua was brought back in could not fit into the furnace on Tuesday at the Mandai Crematorium. His body had to be transferred at the eleventh hour to a smaller one, Lianhe Wanbao reported. Workers had first attempted to make it fit by sawing off the corners. Several undertakers interviewed said such occurrences are uncommon here, as families of the deceased usually received early notice if a coffin brought from overseas is too big. It was not clear who handled Tuesday's cremation, but Union Casket managing director William Quek put the incident down to inexperience. He said: 'We have handled such cases many times and we will immediately see if it is too big and inform the family that they need to change it.'

why buy from Malaysia?? cheaper or got more functions??

his family and him same gene, cheap skate. johor cheaper than singapore. so they want to save some money buying from johor, but instead have to pay more. Just like him.

The only relationship I see is "MOVING" so the crematorium must move to JB for it will be cost effective, the car wash must move to SINgapore, for it will be safer.

But shouldn't the deceased be reached out to , before he MOVED?

in singapore do they have the option to put the bones in a machine where there are full of metal ball bearing which turn bones into powder, about 7 kg of powder like the angmoh?

You want to be cremated in TINY RED DOT you need to have TINY COFFIN. But be PAB / SISIR APPROVED coffin OK?

Malaysian coffin is not saving materials, PAP approved coffins are saving materials type.

Malaysian seldom cremate their dead because they have land to bury their dead in proper cemeteries.

Singaporean have no land to die, that is called in Chinese 死无葬身之地。
