Andy Lau's ties with Chu may soon be revealed

HONG KONG actor Andy Lau and his Malaysian girlfriend Carol Chu rushed back to Malaysia from Hong Kong following the death of Chu's father, all Chinese dailies reported yesterday.

Chu's father, 73, collapsed on Monday afternoon and was rushed to a private medical centre in Subang.

He underwent a five-hour surgery to remove a blood clot but died at 9pm on Tuesday.

Sin Chew Daily said the status of Lau's relationship with Chu would be revealed during the funeral where it would be known whether he might take on the role of son-in-law for the ceremonies.

Lau has always remained mum on the status of his relationship with Chu and has never even admitted his relationship with her in public.

However, their 24-year relationship is not a secret in the entertainment circle.

One version is that they registered their marriage in Canada back in 1992 and they have a daughter. On top of that, a former minister had also disclosed that they had registered their marriage in Malaysia.

Focus at the funeral will now be centred on whether they are a married couple or merely lovers.

China Press reported that the Chu family was tight-lipped on the funeral details. The main gate of the house in Bukit Jalil remained closed all the time.

Media personnel stationed at the area were first told to leave and then later issued a warning.

The wake is being held at the house and the funeral is scheduled for tomorrow.

Last wish of Carol Chu?s dad - to see her wed Lau

THE last wish of Carol Chu's father was to see his daughter finally settling down with Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau, China Press reported.

The elder Chu had expressed sadness many times that his daughter had to contend with "hiding behind the lenses" as the unofficial Mrs Lau but he could not do anything as it was her choice.

There was talk that Lau had bought property in Malaysia in Carol's name in a bid to lessen the family's disappointment.

The couple had planned to marry in April but the wedding was called off at the last minute and postponed indefinitely after it was leaked to the media.

The elder Chu, 73, died on Tuesday after a five-hour surgery to remove a blood clot.

It is not known if the superstar would attend the funeral, the paper said.

A RM100,000 funeral would be held for Chu and the cost, including for the purchase of a coffin, was borne by Lau and the Chu siblings.

The daily also reported that Lau and Carol had returned to Malaysia to visit Chu before his death.

By the time it is revealed, I would have bombed her a million times until that thing became big and loose. She then go for ops to make it small and tight.
I then bombed her 2 million times again until I get sick and tired.
Anyway, that happened a decade ago.
Gods knows how many more I have bombed after that, even I can't remember.

'Son-in-Lau' goes under cover at Chu's funeral

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: The funeral of former beauty queen Carol Chu's father took place amid local and international paparazzi trying to get shots of her long-term partner, Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau.

Their lenses were mainly trained on the person walking at the front of the hearse - a position that by Chinese custom should be taken by the deceased's son-in-law.

Unfortunately, due to an army of bodyguards and the use of many large silver umbrellas to shield that person, the photographers and curious onlookers were unable to catch a glimpse of Lau.

The cameramen, including papa-razzi from Hong Kong, were also prevented from getting too close to the funeral procession at Bukit Jalil here yesterday.

Although no one has been able to confirm if the person shielded by the umbrellas was Lau, it is believed that the Hong Kong superstar has been at Carol's family house in Bukit Jalil for days.

Family members and those who attended the funeral were told not to carry their mobile phones to protect his privacy.

A neighbour of the family claimed that she saw a female teenager at the procession, giving rise to speculation that she was Lau's daughter.

It is learnt that Lau was supposed to have been driven to a cemetery in Cheras in a silver BMW but the huge crowd forced him to take the bus with other family members and friends.

Lau has always kept mum on the status of his relationship with Chu and has never publicly acknowledged his relationship with her. However, their 24-year relationship is an open secret in the entertainment circle.

Shame on the woman for shaming her dad. Which daughter will remain unmarried and give birth to a child out of wedlock?

Quite a 'scene' at funeral of Chu's dad

HONG Kong superstar Andy Lau's name was believed to have been inscribed on a piece of paper and pasted onto a streamer strung up at the funeral of former beauty queen Carol Chu's father.

The streamer - an ancient type of banner hoisted on a mast - is usually presented to the deceased by the sons- or daughters-in-law.

However, all three major Chinese dailies reported that the paper bearing Lau's name was later torn off by a funeral parlour worker.

China Press wrote that a relative was overheard shouting at the worker during the funeral - 'Itu Andy Lau, kasih koyak! (That's Andy Lau's name, tear it off!)'

The worker immediately tore off the name before keeping the pieces in his pocket.

Although the funeral hogged the front pages of the Chinese dailies, none of them managed to capture the picture of Chu's long-term partner.

However, China Press, Nanyang Siang Pau and Sin Chew Daily insisted that the Hong Kong heart-throb did attend the funeral.

Sin Chew Daily reported that several Hong Kong paparazzi, who were at the funeral, recognised his sport shoes despite him being heavily shielded by silver umbrellas throughout the procession and that a bodyguard was seen pressing down Lau's head.

All the dailies also reported that Lau was whisked off half-way during the procession.

China Press also reported that Chu did not come down from the bus that fetched the family to the cemetery in Cheras.

She also did not pay her last respects to her father during the burial ceremony.

'We cannot believe she did not show up during the burial. Her father loved her the most,' the daily quoted relatives as saying.

The elder Chu, 73, had died on Tuesday after a five-hour surgery to remove a blood clot.

The media believed that the funeral could have exposed Andy Lau's "son-in-law" status, but it appeared that the husband of Chu's younger sister, who led the procession, was the sole "son-in-law" representative.

Andy Lau spotted at dad-in-law's grave

[Spotted: Superstar Andy Lau and Malaysian girlfriend Carol Chu arriving at the KL International Airport (inset) to catch a flight to Hong Kong Tuesday, after attending the funeral of Chu's father. On Monday, Lau was seen at the Hokkien cemetery (top pic) in Kuala Lumpur for the seventh-day memorial service.]

HONG KONG superstar Andy Lau was finally seen paying his last respects to his girlfriend Carol Chu's father.

Chinese dailies said Lau was seen at a memorial ceremony in front of the elder Chu's grave at the Hokkien Cemetery in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

This time, he was without any "shield" or sunglasses. However, there were three security men at the entrance of the cemetery.

It was reported in major Chinese dailies that Lau was wearing a white T-shirt and a pair of jeans although Guang Ming Daily had managed to take exclusive pictures of Lau at the cemetary.

The photographs were however taken from afar and were grainy and all of them only showed the side of his face and body.

The dailies quoted a worker at the cemetery as saying that Lau had arrived at about 9am with Chu, her five siblings and two brothers-in-law. They left 30 minutes later after a simple ceremony.

During the funeral, a man believed to be Lau was hidden from view by an umbrella-carrying brigade. --The Star/ANN

The "marriage" between Lau and Chu is said to be an open industry secret, but Lau has never openly admitted to it.

Apple Daily reported that an Indian bodyguard pressed Andy Lau's head down to hide his face as he walked under a blanket of umbrellas during the funeral procession at Bukit Jalil.

I never own a single piece of Andy Lau cd. Back in the heydays of the 4 Heavenly Kings, Aaron Kwok can dance, Jacky Cheung can sing, and only Leon Lai and Andy Lau have no special talents!
