Liverpool will scrap their weekly magazine, LFC Weekly, in favour of a monthly publication as part of cost-cutting measures at Anfield, according to The Independent.

John Henry, the Reds' principal owner who took over the club as part of the Fenway Sports Group, is scrutinising where money is spent at all levels of the club's setup, the report claims.

The new magazine will be published by London-based Programme Master, who also produce Manchester United's United Review magazine and matchday programme.

Previously, LFC Weekly had been produced by Trinity Mirror in Liverpool. Programme Master will take over in July, according to the report.

Liverpool have already parted company with commercial director Graham Bartlett, who was followed out of the door by director of football Damien Comolli last week.

Henry met with manager Kenny Dalglish on Wednesday and also held talks with academy director Frank McParland. McParland has told friends that Henry is happy with his work, it is claimed, and that there will be more investment in the academy in the future.

Fenway Sports Group have emphasised the importance of producing players through the club's academy, with the likes of Martin Kelly and Jon Flanagan receiving opportunities since Dalglish took over as manager.
