Australia is a country that overhauled its pension and healthcare system and it is paying dividends. It is now well recognised. The poor and the vulnerable don;t have to go to Johor. The only Aussies flying to Thailand are for cosmetic surgery.

I remember that an NUS economist lecturer did a lot of research in this space and offered to spearhead the change. He was threatened if he released his paper. I forgot his name.

Yeo Cheow Tong was the one that pushed through the "restructuring" of the government hospitals. As the hospitals were now "private" entities there was no need to debate any budget anymore.

This is why you never hear anything about healthcare spending whether it has gone up or down or whatever.

Yeo Cheow Tong was the one that pushed through the "restructuring" of the government hospitals. As the hospitals were now "private" entities there was no need to debate any budget anymore.

This is why you never hear anything about healthcare spending whether it has gone up or down or whatever.

Healthcare in public hospitals was pretty good at one time believe it or not. Then, like everything else in Singapore, money and greed entered into it. Now it is like the US, a huge scam.

Furthermore, with such expensive to be treated in SG, there are many other options like in Thailand, where medical tourism is blooming!

My sources tell me he was treated by the world foremost lymphoma expert Dr Saul Rosenberg of stanford Uni and Dr Fernando Cabanillas. Dr Ang was just a local liaison but took credit for it . Majority of decisions were by this two top world experts.
there was even a Beijing top Chinese medicine expert /Professor Sun Yan, of Beijing’s Cancer Institute to cover the eastern aspect as all kisu and wants all options covered.

There will be some who will continue to come here based on past reputation and not the like the numbers of the past. State hospitals charge similar rates for foreigners as private hospitals and sometimes more expensive. This has been policy for a long time. For locals who are undergoing treatment in private hospitals and then transferred to state hospitals because of complications, they will be charged private fee rate. That's why for child birth always go to NUS. The elites do that.
