They said they'll fix it... Blah blah blah!! But they didn't !

SINGAPORE: Several MRT stations along the East-West, North-South and Circle Lines and the Bukit Panjang LRT line were hit by a power trip on Monday evening (Apr 25), with some commuters stuck on stalled trains for up to half an hour. This is the first time that trains on three MRT lines plus an LRT line were disrupted at once.

SMRT said in a statement that the power trip was traced to a "power dip" at the Buona Vista power intake station. This power intake station is one of five along the three affected lines that powers parts of the MRT network.

The public transport operator said the stations affected were those from Buona Vista to Joo Koon on the East-West Line, Jurong East to Kranji on the North-South Line and Caldecott to HarbourFront on the Circle Line. All affected stations were without power except for emergency lighting, and free bus services were activated at 8.15pm.

Our Power production and transmission has multiple redundancies. It is a strategy that was put in place in the 70s to ensure that factories in Jurong and the big businesses in the city are shielded. It was a huge selling point to overseas investors. It became a stuff of legends. In the event of equipment failure or human errors, power demands in this crucial sectors will always be met by re-routing and staging rolling black-outs to less important sectors.

Please tell me that our MRT is a critical to our economy and this has been part of infrastrure and part of the strategy. This cannot be an isolated or localised failure as it impacted a wide area.

Honestly I am wondering if Khaw is making things worse. I can't recall this bad a situation under Lui or Raymond Lim.

Singpower claims that it is not a supply issue which the all the press and media reports are indicating. What sort of a press do we have? The normal practice is to check with the relevant parties who all have PR people on standby.

The whole situation started from the time the Saw lady ("recommended" by HC lady) almost totally concentrated on earning money through the retail and rental business.

Lately we have the "paper general" with his high earnings (self, not the SMRT). Looks like it is becoming worst with the likes of the 8-dollar, no NS, "hero" minister and the "lapses" and moving forward ideas. Things are moving but not the SMRT and our MRT.
That sums it all, lah.

By now, we all know that paying multi-million dollars of salaries for ministers and CEOs does not make any difference to that earning couple hundred thousand only. Compare Obama and any of SG's ministers is an insult to Obama.

And more worrying, is that we know if SG is being attacked (cannot say go to war as it an insult to the country attacking SG), the standard of paper generals that SG has, even to know what is happening, is big concern. Not far to look. SMRT has one, another in PMO. Actually quite a few in parliament too. One rear admirer just resigned before last GE.

Some years ago, even the most important political landmark in Singapore, the Istana, got its power supply cut, in spite of all preventive measures taken.

Don't think there is a power blackout so the blame squarely on SMRT. It's their internal power problem!

The root of the problem is Accountability or in this case LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY.

This is the malaise affecting the red dot today-trains keep on breaking downs, dengue keeps going up, people die in hospital/train track/army training due to staff negligence and yet not a single person has been sacked.

The pappy's candidate in BB totally ignore all these issues and instead talk about walkways, ramps, jogging track and parks!
Are we electing a condo MC?

Until there is proper accountability ,esp in the political arena and public sectors, nothing will change, period.

Nonsense. Can a condo MC get a $1.9 million playground built for free? If so, I will vote for him too.

Do you remember this lyrics:

"There was a time when people said
That Singapore won't make it but we did"

Change to:

"There was a time when SMRT said
It won't happen again but it did
