Woman in Malaysia 'electrocuted' to death while talking on cellphone as it was charging

KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A woman in Malaysia was allegedly electrocuted to death while she was talking on her mobile phone as it was charging.

Ms Suhana Mohamad, 30, was said to be struck by the electrical currents at her home in Taman Desa Baiduri of Kuala Lumpur's suburb of Cheras at about 11.30pm on Friday (April 15).

Her husband Raja Asri Raja Mat, a policeman with the Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter-Terrorism (E8) unit, was sleeping during the incident.

Kajang deputy district police chief, Supt Abdul Ghani Mohamad Ji, said Ms Suhana was sent to the Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.

Prayers were held at Bukit Aman before Ms Suhana's body was brought to Gua Musang, Kelantan for burial.

It is possible because if you had dismantled those compact Chink chargers, you will notice that the circuit of the AC live connection is very close to the adjacent DC circuit (to charge the phone). Their design doesn't adhere to the international isolation (between AC and DC) standard requirement and so there is a likely chance of the user getting electrocuted, especially when the charger heats up during charging.
