SINGAPORE - A man who took upskirt videos of a woman was jailed for six months on Tuesday (Feb 23).

Jaymeson Low Tze Wee, 23, who faced 19 charges, admitted last month to seven charges - five of insulting the modesty of a woman and one each of theft and mischief.

He was detained at Cassia Crescent off Old Airport Road in the early hours of Feb 15 last year for loitering.

When police checked his mobile phone, it was found to contain two videos of a naked woman and 13 upskirt videos.

Investigation showed that on Feb 9 last year, he used his mobile phone to record a woman showering in an unknown toilet in Singapore.

Two days later, he took upskirt videos of two unknown females in an elevator at Golden Mile Complex, Beach Road, and near Lavender MRT station.

He similarly intruded into the privacy of two other women on the escalator at Mountbatten MRT station on Feb 12 and 13 the same year.

On Oct 1, a franchiser called the police stating that someone was prying open a laundry machine to steal at Old Airport Road.

Investigation showed that the complainant was viewing his CCTV at 1.28am that day when he saw Low enter a shop at Block 21 and force open a coin exchange machine using a screwdriver. The damage amounted to $800.

Low's act of stealing $340 from the coin exchange machine was captured in the CCTV.

The remaining charges were taken into consideration during his sentencing.

He has previous convictions for unlicensed moneylending, theft, cheating, receiving stolen property and snatch theft.

He could have been jailed for up to one year and fined for insulting modesty. The maximum punishment for mischief is two years' jail and a fine, and for theft, seven years and a fine.
