7 men arrested in relation to 'voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons'

SINGAPORE - Seven men, aged 23 to 46, have been arrested in connection to a case of "voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons".
Just past 10pm on Aug 26, police received a call about an injured 52-year-old Singaporean man at the junction of Arab Street and Rochor Canal Road.
The man, believed to have been assaulted by two men, was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital with facial injuries, said the police in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 22).
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department investigated and, on Monday (Sept 21), eventually arrested seven suspects believed to be involved in the case.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident had occurred arising from a business rivalry dispute, said the police.
Three of them allegedly voluntarily caused grievous hurt with dangerous weapons, while another three allegedly abetted the offence. The last suspect is believed to have committed criminal intimidation.
Anyone convicted for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons may be jailed for life and may also be fined or caned.
Those convicted of criminal intimidation may be jailed for up to seven years and fined.
