[h=4]By ZAIHAN MOHAMED YUSOF[/h]Residents of Pasir Ris Street 21 had a shock yesterday evening when a tree toppled onto Block 243.

Fortunately, nobody was trapped under the fallen tree, a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman told The New Paper.

Mr Rohaizad Mohd Sal, a resident at Block 245, said he was in the toilet when he heard sounds of shattering glass and screams.

Said the 46-year-old manager: "I rushed out of the shower and saw the nine-storey tall tree uprooted.

"Luckily nobody had been walking below the block at that time."

Residents told TNP it had rained heavily in the afternoon but at the time of the incident, the weather was calm.
The SCDF said an 11-year-old boy, who was in a second-storey unit, was taken to hospital with head injuries.
