AHPETC accounts: Now, Tharman cocks it up in parliament!

The following is a statement issued by the Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC) in response to what Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said in parliament on Monday.

AHPETC ABLE TO FULFILL SINKING FUNDS OBLIGATIONS WITH GRANTS.

We refer to the parliamentary debate during question time on 17 August 2015 on the Auditor-General’s Office annual audit for FY 14/15 of government departments and statutory boards.

During the debate, Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC) was mentioned. DPM Tharman Shanmugaratnam claimed that even if the operating grant withheld by the Ministry of National Development (MND) for FY 14/15 is paid in its entirety into AHPETC’s Sinking Funds, it would not be sufficient to comply with AHPETC’s sinking fund obligations for the financial year.

This is incorrect.

Despite the withholding of the annual operating grant for FY 14/15 from AHPETC since April 2014, AHPETC has, to date, fully made 3 quarterly transfers for FY 14/15, from its operating funds to sinking funds, as follows:

The total amount of monies to be transferred to Sinking Funds for FY 14/15 is $20.05 m.

This whole incident shows that meritocracy in Sinkieland is a myth. Tharman was field by the PAP not because he was brilliant but due to cronyistic links.

When is WP going to hit back?

WP, despite not receiving $14 million in grants, is able to provide services to resident without borrowing. The collected fees were able to sustain operations.

PAP TCs, without government grants, would be in deficit. And this is despite higher fees.

Time to paint the PAP as poor money managers. And it is also good to use that to explain why PAP is addicted to extracting more money from sinkees. We don't pay high taxes but we pay high fees for everything. That's why the commoners are being squeezed. The commoners are subsidizing business and the rich. Thanks to the Party Against People.

Honestly, talking all these numbers means nothing to laymen like me.

For me, it's simple, anyone eating money in all these, if yes, mata go arrest, and I will discredit WP, no arrest means no one eating money right ? Then wats wrong ?

This thing about the house not sound n crap, it's not something of immediate concern, with the limited resources, I think they did a good job.

It's like asking them to fly with two hands tied.

Not only have they NOT delivered, they also make a mess out of something that used to be good. Just look at the amount of foreigners they let in, disrupting a very harmonious once upon a time Singapore.
