actually, for them to avoid 3 cornered fights is not really a bad thing. at least by going head on with the white sect, there's still concentration of votes. given the past decade of elections, it is noticeable that the white sect is losing grip on the vote count time after time.

the only down side of things right now is decentralization. too much diversity in party lines, and the different parties are smaller. if they're willing to cast aside their differences, leverage & form a decent alliance... the show of force is larger, and should win the votes of fence-sitters.

anyway, it seems quite obvious that the opposition aren't looking at replacing the white sect overnight. but more importantly, to 1st gain a milestone by getting into the house to be the alternative voice.

bearing in mind that policies & bills r passed only in the house. so when the white sect joy luck club forms the majority, there's no room for proper robust debate. haven't we noticed that when the white sect forms the majority, the banters in the house have somewhat likened to m&d slinging, rather than real objective scrutiny of policies.

so, if there is ample representation of alternatives, the half fk policies conjured by the air heads can then be properly scrutinized, and shaped towards the true best interest of the people.

I can assure you that papigs are so kiasu and so used to pau chiak (sure eat) pau ya (sure win) that 15 opposition MPs in Parliament will be enough to cause a cancer relapse for a certain member.

The problem with scholars is they traded the opportunity to tackle uncertainty for certainty in life. The scholars are so obsessed with certainty that they overlooked an important of human development - that uncertainty is a necessary condition for courage to evolve and develop. In other words, they traded their balls for the certainty of life; the certainty of career; the certainty of power.

You may think that 15 MPs is nothing to shout about since it's not even one-third of the House. But to the ball-less, it's enough to cause many sleepless nights.

Remember, there is no such thing as a brave scholar in Singapore context. The element of uncertainty in life has been arbitrarily removed the moment he signed on the dotted line to become a scholar. The seed of courage vanishes the moment the condition of uncertainty is removed, so it's an oxymoron to suggest that scholars are brave.

The obsession with certainty transforms the human heart into a self-seeking animal, always wanting to get there first, get it first, and everything else, first. The recent card box incident suggests that empathy too is not a trait among scholars.

Just watch. Give the opposition a few inches, and you will witness the scholars scampering for cover.
