Singapore's ministers will address questions posed by newspaper readers and radio listeners on a new Chinese progamme starting Tuesday (Aug 4).

Titled Ministerial Coffee Talk, the eight-episode talk show is produced by the Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) Chinese Media Group.


UFM100.3 DJ Wong Woon Hong will host each 30-minute episode, with managing editor of the group Chua Chim Kang, Montfort Care CEO Samuel Ng and a reporter from Lianhe Zaobao also joining in the discussions.


Taking the hot seat for the series' inaugural episode is Minister of State for Health Lam Pin Min, who will speak on whether the new MediShield Life, which kicks in on Nov 1, will put people at ease.

Other ministers slated to appear on the show include Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development, and Mrs Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport.

The series will air live every Tuesday and Friday at 8.30am till Aug 28, and can be viewed online on zaobao.sg, wanbao.sg and omy.sg.

It is also available on E City (StarHub TV CH111/825) at the same time and days - with repeat telecasts at 9.30pm - well as StarHub's Anywhere Internet TV service and Video on Demand.

Shorter snippets will be edited for radio and broadcast on UFM100.3 between 7pm and 8pm on Tuesdays, and between 8.30am and 9.30am on Fridays.

Mr Anthony Tan, Executive Vice President of SPH's Chinese Media Group, said: "Through our partnership with StarHub, we are confident of bringing the best Chinese news and current affairs content to Singaporeans anytime, anywhere via TV, print, radio and digital platforms."

A Toyota is far better than a BMW. I have owned both brands so I should know.

This is not about party politics. This is about letting the peasants know better about what their ministers do, and the hard work that goes into the decision making process. As a voter, I am interested to know more about the inner workings of our ministers, so that I can better appreciate the work that they and their team do for Singapore.

We judge them by outcome and we have seen thus far warrants the turfing of the PAP.

No wonder sinkees have been voting for mediocrity ...how can you believe the party if their track record shows otherwise? PAP has continued to import millions of foreigners despite the damage to our jobs, social fabricn and infrastructure. We are supposed to forget about that? LHL has used public resources to persecute critics ...even imprisoning at 16-year old. We are supposed to forget about that? Government earns 7 percent return using our CPF money and gives us bac 2.5 percent return, we are supposed to forget about that?
Only a stupid person would forget about all the PAP has done to that.
If we don't turf the PAP out, we deserve to die.

Why didn't they do this one year ago?
The timing is suspicious.
