Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes appears to have issued yet another jibe towards Louis van Gaal ahead of Saturday's FA Cup final.
United are hoping to put some gloss on what has been a largely disappointing campaign for the Red Devils by overcoming Crystal Palace to win the competition for the first time since 2004.
Once the record holders for most FA Cup wins, United have slipped behind Arsenal having not claimed the trophy for 12 years, reaching just two finals in that time.
But Scholes, who has been outspoken against Van Gaal throughout the season, looks to have launched another dig the Dutchman's way by saying the reason why club haven't enjoyed success in the tournament for a number of seasons prior to this year is because they've usually had bigger fish to fry.
"It [the drought] has been disappointing as we obviously want to be in the FA Cup final as it's a big day," Scholes, who won three FA Cups with United, told Manchester Evening News.
"It's long overdue but I also think it hasn't really been a priority. We all know it's a massive major competition but was it the priority over the Champions League or the Premier League?
"We always seem to go after those two which you can probably understand and a lot of the times we would go out of the FA Cup as our team was missing players that would needed to be rested for the big Champions League and Premier League games."
United crashed out of the Champions League group stages before failing to book their place back in Europe's elite club competition for next season with a fifth-place finish under Van Gaal this term.
Van Gaal's charges are heading into the showpiece event at Wembley as favourites as they seek to put an end to their three-year wait to win any piece of silverware.
However, Scholes says Palace have the ability to cause any side problems on their day and has urged United not to take them lightly.
"I think people are probably assuming United are going to win it but it's going to be a tough game," he added.
"Crystal Palace are a decent side and I think they can cause any teams problems, so I think it will be tight."

Not sure how it leaked to the media. If it's from the BBC, you can be sure that there is an element of truth in it. The rumour has gone on for months and I reckon doubts started to creep in after United's exit from CL in the group stages (the weakest gp. IMO).
Me still thinks they will make the announcement in June which is only one and a half weeks away but news coming in suggest otherwise.

Mou and his agent has yet to discuss the details which could take a while. I fear the worse for the young players and it could spell the end of the Old Trafford careers for some of the seniors. The ones who are definitely safe are DG, Martial, Rooney, Smalling, Shaw.
Blind may not be Mou's type of player as he lacks pace but makes up for his intelligence and reading of the game. I believe Carrick and Blind will be shown the door.Pity.

It was a classic game in the Polka final. Pep transformed Bayern into a dominant attacking team-total football at its best. Dortmund could have stolen the final had Aubemayang not miss the sitter. Truly riveting game. Bayern were the deserving winners in the end.

If we look at the top teams in the BPL this season Leicester , Ars n Tottenham they have one common trait - they are fucking fast. And this is the trait that LVG came n successfully snuffed out from Man U over 2 seasons. You can say Moyes started neutering it n LVG added the finishing touches.
Mata is a brilliant player, a good playmaker. But he is damm slow thus cannot dribble. But he has a knack of scoring crucial goals like the equaliser against crystal palace. I hate to see him go but he is not the way Man U shld be playing. We want the Man U that boss other teams. Reminiscing the Chelsea team with costa n fabregas n hazard that bossed the BPL the season that Mourinho returned.
Whatever said about Mourinho n the non lasting managerial stint that he never stayed beyond 3 seasons. The game has changed. Fans want trophies and fans want team to be challenging for titles. Sponsorship depends on that. No one care so much about youth or tradition anymore. Times have changed. There is so much money involved in sponsorships n stock prices. Liverpool is rich in tradition but you can only talk about it and it's worthless without silverware.
The fairy tale of Leicester will give teams like Tottenham, west ham belief n next season will b more challenging. I cannot imagine the same boring ineffective style of playing under LVG.

The transition game is not there. That could be attributed to the manager's tactics and instruction to the players. IMO, it was really down to a missing key element in the middle of the park. A midfielder with a vision and ability to facilitate the transition game. It was only recently that 300 pound per week idiot decided he was best for that role.
