4 men arrested for possessing airsoft guns

SINGAPORE - Four men have been arrested in two separate cases for possessing airsoft guns this month.
In the first case, two teenagers aged 15 and 17 were arrested at Blk 116 Yishun Ring Road on June 11 when the older teen tried to sell an airsoft gun to the younger boy. Investigations revealed that the 17-year-old had bought the gun from another 26-year-old man. That man was arrested the following day and two other airsoft guns with pellets and gas refills were seized.
In another case on June 28, police officers arrested a 27-year-old man along Jurong West Street 31 for having an airsoft gun on him. Initial investigations show that he is allegedly involved in a criminal intimidation case and other drug-related offences.
Airsoft guns, or any other guns which shoot pellets using compressed gas, are regulated as "arms" under the Arms & Explosives Act.
No one is allowed to carry them without a licence.Those found with such arms face a jail term of up to three years and a fine of up to $5,000 for each gun in possession.
