SINGAPORE — Three men have been arrested for allegedly conspiring to commit murder — with a meat mincer, a chainsaw, a cleaver and plastic sheets found in the possession of two of them — and will be charged in court today (June 24).

The trio, aged between 32 and 37, were arrested after a man, 28, reported to the police on Sunday night that he had been assaulted at a multi-storey carpark at Pasir Ris Street 71. His two attackers, accompanied by a third man, fled when the victim’s cries for help attracted the attention of passers-by.

The police then launched an investigation to establish the identities of the suspects. It netted one of the suspects, a 37-year-old man, on Monday (June 22) afternoon in an ambush near Balestier Road.

Later that night, officers arrested the other two suspects — both 32-year-old men — at a chalet at Aloha Changi at about 9.50pm.

During the operation, items including a meat mincer, chainsaw, kitchen knives, gas cooker, gas cylinder tank, a tool set, trolley bags, plastic sheets, cable ties, a cleaver, aprons, a chopping board and rubber boots were recovered from the chalet, and seized as case exhibits.

Yesterday morning (June 23), the police also seized a white Mitsubishi multi-purpose vehicle at the basement carpark of Changi Airport Terminal 3, believed to be related to the case. The car was reported as a case of an abandoned vehicle to the police.

The police are still looking for 29-year-old Myanmar national Aung Aung, to assist in investigations into the case. “Preliminary investigations revealed that Aung Aung had left Singapore on the morning of 22 June 2015,” the police said in a media release last night.

The three suspects will be in court at 9am today and charged with the offence of abetment by conspiracy to commit murder.

Under the Penal Code, a person who abets in an offence punishable by death or life imprisonment can be jailed up to seven years and fined, if the offence was not eventually committed.

If an offence is committed after the abetment, and a person was hurt, the abettor can be jailed up to 14 years, and shall also be liable to fine.

They wee cooking for Ramadan lah!.... the intended victim, was Daisy the Goat!

You got the wrong church, want to report, report properly, it was the Orchard Rd Presbyterian Church at Penang Road, caretaker house, wonder if the caretaker house is still being used. In brief, husband abuse wife, wife complained to family, family members corralled the husband, kill him , cut him in pieces & cooked him with the Nasi Briyani, for they were Nasi Briyani providers. The body parts was distributed islandwide in the Nasi Briyani, in a month of 1984...people in Singapore ate Nasi Briyani, with extra meat.

If I was not mistaken, it was a murder without a body, the accused was discharged after spending sometime in detention....for two years in 1984 - 1986 I swore off Nasi Briyani..even today...I still gets the jitters!

The police are looking for Myanmar national Aung Aung, 29, to assist in investigations. He is believed to have left Singapore on Tuesday morning. -- PHOTO: SINGAPORE POLICE FORCE

By Elena Chong

SINGAPORE - Three foreigners were charged in court on Wednesday (June 24) with abetment by conspiracy with a fourth man to commit murder.
Two of them are Myanmar nationals while a third is a Singapore permanent resident.
Myanmar nationals Yae Wynnt Oaung, 32, and Phyo Min Naing, 31, and Singapore PR Zaw Min Hlaing, 37, are said to have schemed with Kyaw Kyaw Aung alias Aung Aung, 29, on Saturday evening to murder Mr Aye Maung Maung Thet, a 26-year-old permanent resident.
The offence was not committed.
Court documents say that on Sunday evening at the multi-storey carpark at Block 747A Pasir Ris Street 71, Hlaing, Aung Aung and Naing tried to abduct the victim, and in the process, Hlaing and Naing caused hurt to the victim by using a "taser" on him.
Aung Aung is believed to have left the country on Tuesday morning.
Deputy Public Prosecutor John Lu applied for the trio to be remanded at Central police division as investigations are incomplete.
They will be back in court on July 1.
Police said in a statement late on Tuesday night that a report of an assault at Pasir Ris Street 71 on Sunday night led to the arrest of the trio.
The victim had reported to police that he had been assaulted by two unknown men at the multi-storey carpark. He told police that the two men, together with another unknown man, fled the scene when his cries for help attracted the attention of passers-by.
Hlaing was arrested near Balestier Road at about 1pm on Monday following an ambush.
Officers mounted an operation and arrested Oaung and Naing at a chalet at Aloha Changi almost nine hours later. They recovered items including a meat mincer, a chainsaw, kitchen knives, a gas cooker, a gas cylinder tank, a tool set, trolley bags, plastic sheets, cable ties, a cleaver, aprons, a chopping board and rubber boots.
The next morning, police were alerted to an abandoned vehicle at the basement of Changi Airport Terminal 3. Officers found a white Mitsubishi multi-purpose vehicle at the carpark, and preliminary investigations suggest that it was linked to the case.
Anyone with information on Aung Aung can contact the police at 1800-255-0000, or submit the information online at www.police.gov.sg/CrimeStopper. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
If convicted, the trio could be jailed for up to 14 years and fined.
