[h=1]WILL OUR "NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS" ALL BE FROM THE PAP?[/h]

The presumption of Straits Times reporter Tham Yuen-C that Singapore's "next generation" of leaders will comprise only PAP politicians is appalling, not to mention reeking of the mindless bootlicking.

That said, do you feel confident of S'pore's future looking at the list of her "next generation" leaders?

Let's take a look:

1.Teo Chee Hean, presided over the Little India Riot as Minister for Home Affairs which exposed the inadequacies of the police force. This was followed by recurring breaches of our border and the SMRT depot.

2. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, he believes that an income of $1,000 a month can buy you a HDB flat. What is this this guy smoking?

3. Lim Swee Say, enough said.

4. Yaacob Ibrahim, fumbling through his role as Minister for Information, and before that, as the Minister for Environment & Water Resources, where his incompetence was laid bare for all to see: from the recurring floods, to the current dengue epidemic and the many food poisoning cases after he left.

5. Vivian Balakrishnan. Under him, not only did YOG budget exceeded by 300 percent, S'pore's reputation went down the drain after a food poisoning outbreak at the games and wrong certificates were sent out to some 45,000 participants. After taking over the Environment portfolio, he crossed the line of civil service neutrality by using NEA to harass the Workers' Party.

6. Khaw Boon Wan, his incompetence on his job is matched only by his abject inability to tell a sound and believable story to cover up his ministry's lapses from Brompton Bikes to claims that HDB flats have not shrunk to the ignominy that is the Sengkang Columbarium.

7. Ng Eng Hen, the word is that this former surgeon is a bad fit for his role as Minister for Defense. And oh did we mention the multiple deaths of NSFs and NS men under his watch?

8. Lim Hng Khiang; a totally unremarkable politician and minister who has plodded along the Party line of importing cheap labour under an outmoded industrial development paradigm. And oh, did we mention the ever declining productivity?

9. Gan Kim Yong; tents in hospital to address overcrowding? Four years after taking over as Health Minister, extremely long waiting times and overcrowding at hospitals remain involved.

10. Lui Tuck Yew. Train disruptions have continued unabated despite four years after GE 2011 and overcrowding seems to have worsened despite the millions spent on the "free travel scheme".

11. S Iswaran. He will always be remembered for posing with a bevy of glamour girls at the uppity F1 party which really sums up what he stands for: open door policy of S'pore for the rich billionaires.

12. Chan Chun Sing. Another military type whose tenure at the MCCY was reportedly not well-received given his lack of experience running a civilian organisation. And no, he does not have the stature to be the Prime Minister.

13. Heng Swee Keat. We are at a pain to come up with any significant achievement from this guy who looks more suited as a ministry technocrat than a Minister.

14. Lawrence Wong. The grass needed time to grow. So why wasn't there sufficient time for it to do so?

15. Tan Chuan-Jin. Full of angst, prone to making baseless statements and letting his emotions get the better of him, is he really the right man to be a Minister?

16. Grace Fu. She's in the cabinet purely based on connection of her father as former Principal Private Secretary of LKY. And it shows.

17. Masagos Zulkifli. Throw this man a bone (minister without portfolio) and he laps it up with such eagerness proclaiming it as a sign of progress for his entire community. It pains us to know that we are paying a million dollar for this dud.
