Loanshark harassment suspect arrested

SINGAPORE - The police have arrested a 24-year-old man for suspected involvement in a series of loanshark harassment cases.
Between March 9 and 10, the police received two reports that the front doors of two residential units at Rivervale and Compassvale housing estates had been set on fire.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted investigations, established the suspect's identity and arrested him along Pasir Ris Street 51 on March 12 at about 11.49am.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in at least three cases of aggravated loanshark harassment at Compassvale Street, Rivervale Drive and Potong Pasir Ave 2.
If the suspect is found guilty of loanshark harassment, he will face a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, a jail term of up to five years, and up to six strokes of the cane.
