Another case of women assaulting a lone girl was heard in court yesterday.
This time, the victim was only 14.
Chomil Kamar, 31, Siti Nurbari Mohamed Noor, 22, and two other women confronted their victim on Sept 2 last year at the void deck of an Ang Mo Kio HDB block.
They did so because the girl allegedly had been seeing Siti Nurbari's boyfriend and had made up stories about her.
Siti Nurbari slapped the girl several times, kicked and punched her face, kicked her stomach and pulled her hair.
Chomil struck the girl above her mouth, punched her in the eye, slapped her face and pulled her hair.
The girl made a police report that day and went for a medical check-up at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital the next day.
She was given three days' medical leave.
That month, as Chomil was being investigated for her first offence of assaulting the girl, she and two others went to Mustafa shopping centre.
They stole $470 worth of items, including five perfumes and an earpiece.
Despite getting caught by a security officer that day, Chomil did not stop flouting the law.
A month later, she stole two T-shirts and a pair of sunglasses from a shop in Ang Mo Kio Hub and was caught.
URINE TEST
Court papers also said she had been under compulsory supervision since 2013 and was required to go for regular urine tests at the Ang Mo Kio Police Division.
On Dec 29 last year, she failed to turn up for a urine test.
The court also heard that Chomil, who has a history of brushes with the law for offences such as criminal breach of trust 10 years ago and rioting in 2013, had absconded while on bail.
Yesterday, Chomil, who was unrepresented, said in mitigation that she was sorry for her actions.
Besides one count of voluntarily causing hurt, she also pleaded guilty to two charges of theft in dwelling and one count of failing to turn up for a urine test.
One other charge of theft in dwelling and two other counts of failing to turn up for a urine test were taken into consideration.
She was sentenced to a total of five months' jail.
Last month, Chomil's friend, Siti Nurbari, was fined $3,000 for assaulting the girl.
For voluntarily causing hurt, Chomil could have been jailed up to two years and/or fined up to $5,000.
For each charge of theft in dwelling, she could have been jailed up to seven years and fined.
For failing to turn up for a urine test, she could have been jailed up to four years and/or fined a maximum of $10,000.
