A resident who wanted to be known as "Sue" said the injured man ran down from the third floor and ran into her mother's apartment on level 2. "The man was badly injured. Blood all over. He asked us to call the police. He was with us until the police came," she said.

Mr William Teo, who was visiting the block for volunteer work at the time said the man had injuries to his head, jaw and thigh. "When I went over, culprit already fled," Mr Teo said.
The male victim has been identified by his wife as 62-year-old A-majid Maaraf. He and the injured woman have been sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
A trail of blood was seen from the 13th floor down to the 8th floor, and there was blood splatter on the third floor.

As for the deadly fire on the 8th floor, SCDF said they had to break into a flat and a man was found motionless near the toilet. There was no official word on whether the two incidents are linked.

Police told Channel NewsAsia that there was a dispute and that two people are injured. They were alerted to the incident at 5pm. As of 8.30pm, they were still processing the scene.

The attacker then turned to a woman who tried to intervene and slashed her as well.
One resident told The New Paper: "Blood was splattered everywhere."
The victim then ran and hid in a neighbour's unit on the second storey. Residents called the police and ambulance.
The injured man and woman have been taken to the hospital.

I see that there has been plenty of outsourcing to cheap unqualified FTs when it comes to writing/editing news articles.

From the CNA article, there would have been no clue as to how the fire had occurred.

It was a case of self-immolation (suicide). The man stabbed his neighbours, then went back to his own flat and set himself on fire.

A fire and a knife attack at block 4 Marsiling Road left 2 injured and one dead.
The fire was on the 8th floor and one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire.

The two others were injured around the third floor where a resident aged in his 50s was seen wielding a parang and arguing with another man. A woman in her 60s tried to intervene and was injured in the process.

Witnesses shared that the man in his 50s with the parang had approached the third floor unit and after the conflict, two people were injured with blood running from multiple injuries on their heads, and thighs.

The injured man was identified as A-majid Maaraf. He and the woman who was also injured have been sent to Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital.

It is understood that the man had fled the third floor after attacking the two victims and had gone up to his 8th floor apartment and set it on fire.

SCDF had to break into the apartment and found the man dead near the toilet.
A long trail of blood was also seen trailing from the 13th floor to the 8th floor as well as another splatter of blood at the 3rd floor.

A resident on the 2nd floor called the police after the injured man ran into their apartment and asked for help in calling the police.

Masjid was reportedly repairing his bicycle at the corridor there when the man came at him with a parang. It is not immediately clear what sparked the assault.

Police simply explained that they are currently investigating.

So the victim is a Malay. No mention on the attacker.

Out of sudden just take a parang out to whack? Very fishy
