36-year-old man arrested for extortion

SINGAPORE - A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in an extortion case.
The suspect is also reportedly involved in another extortion case involving $68,000 back in Jan this year.
On Sept 27, a 42-year-old woman had filed a police report regarding the suspect as he had allegedly demanded for money from the victim in exchange for not posting photos of her online. They had been in a relationship prior to the police report.
Police officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division managed to trace the suspect and arrested him at Geylang Lorong 37 on the night of Nov 5.
If convicted, the suspect may face a jail term of at least two years and may also be caned.
