EtonHouse Group and Singapore Chinese High School will open a new preschool and primary school called the Hwa Chong EtonHouse Institution in Singapore, which will specialise in the teaching on Math and Science in Chinese.

The new school is the brainchild of EtonHouse Group and Singapore Chinese High School. Etonhouse is a pre-school operator and Singapore Chinese High School manages the Hwa Chong schools.

Mrs Ng Gim Choo, the founder and Managing Director of EtonHouse, said that the concept for the new school was designed as such because there has been a high demand of parents who would like their children to study in Mandarin.

She added that currently, Mandarin classes in EtonHouse are the most popular, among other language classes.

Not only will subjects be taught in English, they will also be taught in Mandarin. Students will learn math and science in both languages.
Students in the school will also receive a deeper education in the Chinese culture.

The new school will also follow the International Baccalaureate programme.

It is unsure who the school is meant cater to. The preschool will be able to enrol both Singaporean and foreign students. However, the primary school will only be able to take in foreign students as Singaporean students are required to attend mainstream primary schools operated by the Ministry of Education.

=> Sure no exceptions?

Mr Robson Lee, Secretary of the Singapore Chinese High School, added that they hope that students who leave the new school will move to attend Hwa Chong International. Hwa Chong International also provides the International Baccalaureate programme.

The new school will open in 2016 in Bukit Timah. It will take in 300 preschool and primary school children in its first year, before expanding to an intake of 800 students.
Mrs Ng said that the school fees will be comparable to the other international schools, which charge between S$15,000 to S$20,000 each year.
