Re: Will history repeat itself? Is bloodshed coming?

What is the most likely scenario? Will it be some kind of compromise or are both sides going to be stubborn and refuse to budge?

Re: One of the wisest statement for today!!

Its not so easy for China to do their brutal acts in Hong Kong like they can do in Tibet and in their restive Western region. Hong Kong is a totally different ball game as it is prominent on the world stage in many areas and ways. Any rough stuff would be condemned immediately and action taken. The likely winner would then be Russia if China should start to be more buddy buddy with them.

Re: One of the wisest statement for today!!

These protesters are just wasting their time and efforts. As the SAR under China, HK is still a part of PRC and after the 50 year time span is up, China will take over HK completely as one of cities of PRC.

China will not let go of HK just like it will not let go of xinjiang.

Better to emigrate if unhappy rather than fight for something which the commies will not concede. These commies are tough and when pushed to the wall, brutal suppression will be applied.

Those who have citizenships elsewhere are diehard against this protest. It disrupts their opportunity to make money in HK.
For the protestors, they have nowhere to go ...HK is their land and if they don't stop the encroachment of PRC to weaken the already weak democratic rule there, HK will become a province of China. And that will make hongkees no better than ah tiongs; a notion that will make most hongkees puke.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

China government is smart. They let the silly hongkies protest all they want and destroy the businesses and their own livelihoods. When all the businesses move out of HK and into shanghai or guangzhou, then the hongkies will realise how stupid they are.

If the communist have trust and faith in their honkie tonk brethren to manage independently, then hong kong can develop as the Scandinavia of the east. They have the infrastructure and the money to do this.

But if there is remorse in Beijing, then Hong Kong can be turned into sodom and gomorrah, destroyed till eternity

HKG Democracy rallies - Wake up Sinkies, does this sound familiar?

The former colonial police officer Anderson Mike, 60, a former Hong Kong police officer during the British colonial era, recently spent 48 hours straight on the streets. A Hong Kong-native of Pakistani descent, he found himself in a stand-off with a force he used to be a part of. "Hong Kong people are now second-class citizens to mainland Chinese in their own city," Mike said, shortly after picking up a spent tear gas canister. "Hong Kongers have been betrayed by politicians, and after 17 years people have woken up and realised it's time for a change," he added. He lamented what he called the erosion of social justice in the city in recent years and felt the sharp increase in inequality simmered just under the surface of the ongoing protests. "I'm not here for myself," he said "I'm here for others so the next generation is not a slave to a system that ignores the people. -

When the pappies and China's leaders admire each other's system of government, claiming that both countries have 'much to learn from each other', you know things are messed up.

the writing was already on the wall in 1997 when tiongs took over from the brits. the able, capable, astute, and with means have already left and secured for themselves as insurance policies for themselves and their children pr's and citizenships in ang mo cuntries while losers, whiners, procrastinators and those who couldn't see the future stayed put and thought life would go on as usual - in their myopic, narrow, and frog in the well ways. well, the rooster has cum home to roost, and these bunch of morons just realized their home has a new landlord, and very soon, they will be evicted but with nowhere to go. and they only pine for ang bo tua kee mastery over their coolie subservient existence. sounds familiar?
