In Spore although there is news in english, much of it is propaganda. That's why I watch the alternate news like CNN, BBC & CNBC.

I've managed to get streaming news for CNN & MSNBC using XBMC. Have NHK news via my Roku box, Have seen CNBC on Roku but it will not install because it is Geo blocked. That's why I'm now looking at getting a smart DNS/VPN account for my Roku & iPad.

Channel News Asia and its likes are crap. Me too only foreign news including CCTV1

With fiber cable I can now watch many FREE shows online. If you like British programs I recommend visiting the BBC. That's where I go to watch the latest Dr. Who series:smile:

Why would anyone want to watch a leftist dhimmi terrorist-loving media like BBC?

Alright, spend the rest of our lives watching movies ......

The internet has had a great impact on my life. I can ignore the official propaganda.
It's also relatively free after you've paid for the electricity & the ISP. Since I'm paying for fiber I might as well exploit it to the max.

I like the idea of getting unfiltered news & not what the PAP thinks I should know. I can choose what I want to watch & it's mostly FREE.
I also have an internet radio which I listen to all day.

Initially I didn't think I needed the speed of fiber but I'm finding otherwise:smile:
It has increased the things I can do with my desktop computer, radio, my iPad,... I often have all of the devices on checking my mail & reading the forums, streaming the news, have background music on,..
The sound from the iPad is not very loud. I fixed that by connecting a blue tooth external speaker, an SRS BTX500.

Are you subscribing to MyRepublic? It has this tunnel feature, or so it claims.....

They offer something called Teleport. It is a DNS & not a VPN solution. It works great for accessing service in the UK but it's not good enough to fool the geo blocking in the US.
Once the free trial ends I will upgrade to VPN.

I only tune into CNA if I want local news e.g. flooding in Spore, the coup in LOS. They are just another loss making GLC providing sub standard service.

Budget carrier Scoot bleeds $25 million in two years amid crowded skies

Scoot, Singapore Airlines' long-haul budget carrier, has opened its books for the first time and the picture is not pretty. It revealed losses of more than $25 million in less than two years.

The red ink comes amid intense competition among Asia- Pacific carriers - both full-service and budget - seeking a slice of a growing market.

"It's been pretty challenging" for carriers that are grappling with overcapacity as a result of airlines adding too many flights, said UOB Kay Hian's aviation analyst K. Ajith.

This has brought yields and margins down and affected Scoot as well, he said.
