SINGAPORE - A lawyer who was struck off the rolls two years ago for misconduct was hauled to court on Wednesday for allegedly providing legal services to eight Chinese nationals.

Leonard Loo Peng Chee, 44, who is unrepresented, is said to have acted for the eight individuals by providing legal advice and/or representations to the authorities such as the police and Immigration and Checkpoints Authority. The alleged offences occurred between November last year and August.

Loo, who was stripped of his right to practise law here in 2012, holds the dubious record of having the most complaints filed against him. It was reported in 2012 that the Law Society had received 14 complaints from his clients and the courts, covering at least 86 instances of misconduct, including dishonesty.

Complaints against him included being ill-prepared to argue his case, being late for court hearings or not showing up, and not complying with court directions.
